Last year, Henning won games with smoke and mirrors. Now, he has players he knows, more time, and more weapons. Yet, he has to bite his tongue and play vanilla. Sporano may have put in those few old WC plays to calm him down. :)

Pas is in the same boat. He HAS more talent, schemes, and blitz packages than he could have imagined last season. Yet, he has to sit on his hands until Atlanta.

It has to be frustrating.

vanilla play stresses the fundamentals. watch the TD run by DeAngelo Williams if you can. we need some more reps tackling guys it seems.

It's not so bad when you can't remember you're frustrated... :D

It might be frustrating but I'd rather leave all that in the NSMB then show it for the world to see at this point.

I'm getting frustrated trying to understand your post...

Uhh Why would you run anything other than basic packages during preseason? Especially when you play all 4 teams during the regular season.

This is all teams do at this point, you don't teach the scrubs the details of your gameplans so they can just go sign on with other teams and reveal all.

I've been frustrated for 15 years now

How do you figure what we're doing is vanilla? Where did this come from, i don't understand. I don't think you draft a guy like Pat White if your going to be vanilla 1st and foremost. Do you know what Vanilla means? Jim Bates scheme was vanilla, basic, lack of mixing it up. I think if anything you will see the Dolphins do more this year. Didn't the players just say Paul P, was going to do more "exotic" packages this year?

He is talking about the preseason

I think it would drive me crazy. You want to try out your new tricks and plays and see how the team looks pulling them off but at the same time you don't want to show opposing teams anything.

I think I'd run the plays from the part of the playbook that I'm least likely to use. I do think they do some stuff like the wildcat plays in pre-season just to make the other team prepare for them. I doubt you will see those same wildcat plays until later in the season.

OK, let me try this again.

It is pre-season. EVERYONE plays vanilla, not showing much of what they can do, just mostly basic stuff.

Our OC & DC have had time and new weapons to add to our team. There should be a TON of them. They cannot use a single one right now but, they are all in their minds. That, IMO, is FRUSTRATING.
