Want a metaphor that sums up Ryan Tannehill’s first six seasons as a Miami Dolphin? This one will do:

As part of Tannehill’s rehab for his second (and more serious) ACL injury last fall, the Dolphins’ medical staff would subject him to an unpleasant therapy called BFR — short for blood-flow restriction.

It’s basically a cuff they put and it squeezes 80 percent of the blood flow out of your legs and then we’d ride the bike,” “It started off as we’d ride and then we made it a competition. How far can you go in 10 minutes? Boom, boom, boom, boom. Pretty soon we were hitting four miles. It might not sound like a lot, but when you don’t have blood flowing into your legs, your legs feel like they’re going to explode after the first 45 seconds. It’s really just a mental grind.”

Over time, Tannehill’s body and spirit strengthened.

I dont believe in his knee, but I have total faith in his attitude, committment and skills as a qb. Hopefully the knee holds up and he finally shut up his doubters, haters and trolls

I have the normal amount of mental concern about his knee but honestly I don't think there is an issue at all. There's just been so many athletes with this injury that we have quite a bit of data to reference about the rehab and the longevity post injury. He looks back to 100% and you can see that it's not even on his mind.

He's tough as they come, he's talented and I see a great year ahead of him.

Going to be very interesting to say the least. Without a healthy RT it will be a long season.

The first time, they “Used The Force” to fix his knee, and it didn’t work. Which is why it blew out.

Then they did it right. And I doubt it’ll blow this time.

If he gets racked up this year, I’ll bet a beer that it won’t be his knee.

Unless the line allows it to be his other one.

“I think I got better, which is hard to believe,” Tannehill said. “No one’s really going to believe that. But in my mind, I truly believe I got better throughout the course of the year.”

I love this quote - perhaps because it just helps to fuel my excitement about what could be with RT back this year.

I love his frame of mind. Seriously, throw out anything about football, and whatever job he did, he would be successful.
I don't see Ryan as a field general, but more like an efficient task manager. Whereas Marino would look at the entire field and throw on instinct, Ryan seems to get the play from Gase and get it done.
Different styles, but hopefully same results-Touchdowns.

I'm not sure how this will work out this season.....but I'm optimistic.....and more importantly I'm routing for RT's success. I hope this is his year.....

If ever an injury could trigger a player's weakness to become a strength, it's this kid's injury.

He needed a chip on his shoulder. He needed to take back what rightly belonged to him. It's all on him now. It's what he wanted, it's what all of us should really want, to be in a position to be carried by your franchise QB.

I am not worried about the knee. I am certainly not worried about the QB.

By season's end a guy named Minkah or maybe a former LA Ram might steal this title, but for now, Ryan Tannehill is the best player on the team.

The knee will hold up and Tannehill is going to kill it. If that knee was going to give him problems, we would have heard he had swelling or they limited him due to pain, etc. I think Raekwon experienced some of that early on during camp and they had to hold him back a bit.

People can critique his play all day long, but lesser men would have crippled under the cards he’s been dealt the last 6 seasons.
Tannehill is no victim. 99% + coming out of college would be drafted in later rounds, if drafted, and be a backup QB the entirety of their career.
Tannehill wasn't superhuman in dealing with this situation. He was paid $17 million last year to deal with a prolonged injury due to his choosing not to have corrective surgery when the initial injury took place. Few people would be crippled by his situation. Particularly when there are many more millions of dollars hanging the balance.
Furthermore few teams would be as dysfunctional as Miami has been by trying to improve the QB position and at the very least bring in legitimate competition.
Realistically, Tannehill has been treated like a princess when it comes to his NFL career.
Compare how Tannehill has been treated vs. Bridgewater. TB has gone more than RT and he's not crippled.

Agreed, Tannehill has been very lucky he doesn't play for a team that has no patience for developing a QB, if Tannehill were drafted by Clevland he would have been cut 5 years ago. We have been more than patient w Tannehill. Hopefully this is the last season or at least the last season where he is the only remotely talented QB on the roster.

I'm not worry about the knee cause there's nothing I can do about it and really, any player can get hurt at any time for any reason. He has as much or as little chance to get hurt as anyone who hasn't been hurt yet. I just hope the O-line do it's job and protect him.

Princesses don't piss blood silently because of consistent swiss cheese OLs! How many boxes of Kleenex did you go through after Calais Campbell saved the season for you?
