It just hit me and makes total sense. Ireland will be the fall guy for everything--the Incognito mess, a really bad 2013 draft and free agency and of course the year end collapse. Ross will say he will search the universe for the best GM and eventually he will hire one. Then we will find out that the new GM is the final arbiter on the coach, and after an exhaustive interview process the new GM will decide to not rehire Philbin. That will of course give Ross the coverage he needs to say he wasn't the one who fired Philbin, the GM did. He will come out of it looking like the good guy by not being the one who fired Philbin, and also not making a bad choice to hire him in the first place.

It just makes sense to me. Remember, I called it! DH

Thoughts?

So the owner fires the gm, hires a new gm that brings in a new coach (his guy) like they normally do and you think that is a ground breaking revelation first stated by you? haha

Ireland is fired
Sherman will walk away, saving Joe.
Joe stays...

A GM will be hired with ties to Joe OR on the agreement Joe stays for the year

Joe...because he is lame duck...will not be able to hire a top OC.

Terrible situation right now.

Ireland out and Carl Peterson in is a possibility *shudder*

Two days ago Ireland and Philbin were safe and we were going to the playoffs. This is not normal.

They can't stick a new GM with Joe. The new GM has to be given to opportunity to fire or retain Philbin.

Exactly! Philbin will be interviewed and not retained by the GM. Ross will walk away clean.

If A new GM comes in you can bet your a** there will be a whole new coaching staff. Just read Ross is looking at all possibilities.

I'm TOTALLY on board with this. But, some of us have already suggested this weeks ago. Lol

The Philbin hire was a mistake and it has tarnished Ross as a leader. The new GM will give him coverage.

Ill take whoever over another Ireland offseason. Who drafts 3 injured players and a guy who was inactive every game of the season, with their first four picks. The 4 picks later drafts a kicker who was one of the worst kickers in the league while the kicker he let go was one of the best. Then subsequently wastes 40M in cap space. We should be looking good next year as we seem to be currently 30M over. Then with expiring contracts we should be right around where we were last year. He better not be around to waste another 40m in cap space.

Ireland out and Carl Peterson in is a possibility *shudder*

Note: I do like Jordan and do not blame him that we have a bad DC and defensive coaching staff who does not use him

maybe in your world they were safe. The season hadn't even finished, who knew how it would unfold.

I was merely speaking to your plan, that hit you. That 'plan' is common practice with a team that has failed repeatedly
