For all the negative people on here. Entering the season, we knew we had one of the tougher schedules. We knew the team had holes. We knew our corners were shaky, our linebackers were a question mark, our pass rushers are old, and our depth was non existent. These were things that were discussed for months. So these past 2 weeks, we lost close games against tough teams, because they exposed the holes that we already knew about. So why all of a sudden is it a surprise? Why are we ready to get rid of Gase already? Why is Tannehill to blame?

Not saying that there isn't reason to be disappointed. We definitely could have had that first game won. But if you were expecting this team to make it to the super bowl this season, then you were just completely oblivious to the shape of the roster. This team will take time, but I think we will get there. Continue to compete this season, patch the holes this off season, and I think this team is going nowhere but up from there

I think it was the second game for me. Brutal start against a depleted Pats team and we were getting the doors blown off of us until the 3rd stringer came in and we still lost. This was a big game and we looked lackluster.

I'm not mad with the team...the team is performing pretty much where I expected...maybe even a little better than I expected. What I'm angry about is that all those positions you mentioned, CB, LB, OL, DL, those positions were ones most of us knew needed to be addressed and the team decided they needed WRs taking two in the draft and trading 3 picks to move up to get one. They also let RB become an issue and then spent a draft pick to get one, who has an injury history that would rival Evil Kineval's (yeah I just dated myself I know), and then signed another RB that everyone in their right mind knew would at some point be injured this year...and he is.

You cannot build a team if you never have a foundation to build on. We developed players like Rishard Matthews, Lamar Miller and Olivier Vernon...very few players have been developed in Miami mind you, and then we let them walk to save money. We have more cap space than most teams which makes you think the reason we let them go, and added more holes to an already swiss cheese team, is so Mike Tannenbaum can make his splash in free agency and sign a player to a big contract and using up all the cap space on one player. Like he did with Suh who has to cover for the weak DL and the weak LB corp by himself. It's just bad football philosphy and poor management.

A number of reasons. For many OLD Miami fans, playing up to good teams but falling short is a way of life. Given the last decade, inept coaching is the norm. As for me (notice I didn't say 'myself"), I've already dissed Gase/VJ for play-calling. For others, it's all about trolling. Tannehill could have smoked NE and scored 50 pts, but the trolls would focus on 'that bad pass in 2Q." And there's strange thing about losing. Lose by a lot and the team is "awful." Lose by 2 against the top team and "our" team "just can't win close games." That's the nature of fandom.

I want to see 6 more games before I make a judgement on any unit, but, right now, I see just a few weak spots - Maxwell, McCain, Jenkins, RBs. Yeah, I can name others, but those seem to be most glaring. Again, fans want to win and there hopes are delicate. A win brings season-long hope and a loss brings season-long depression. Fans cling to the most recent article and stat as if it's definitive. I'm leaning optimistic but with a decade of football to keep me close to reality.

I think its that we have seen it so many times. We found a way to lose against an inept offense in week 1, which included our most active player concussing himself against a wall (allegedly). Then, we got our doors blown onn early against a backup only to see a furious comeback come up just short.

Though I think Miller is over valued in here I'd rather have him then what we have. Other than that you summed it up perfectly. Missing on Anderson was huge and trading picks for Caroo was ridiculous but not surprising. Tannenbaum has a history of trading picks so you can expect more of that nonsense in the future.

To dig the wound a little deeper 2 of our former assistant coaches Kacy Rogers and Todd Bowles are looking pretty good coaching those Jets. Well we had a chance there too. Not picking on Gase but I believe in hind site they were a upgrade to Philbin and company.

OP, you are thinking way too rationally about this. In order to be a true Dolphin fan AND member of this forum, you need to think irrationally and begin flying off the handle at every game result and move this organization makes.

What I think is an extremely undervalued element in these situations in which we let successful draft picks walk is the message it sends to the players about the culture of the Dolphin's organization. Some of the most successful ballclubs thrive b/c of their ability to develop and retain their own hand picked players and it creates a unique camaraderie within the team. It upholds a standard and reward system that this current FO simply hasn't grasped a concept of.

Don't forget about Jason Garrett.

I'm not disappointed in the 0-2 start, I'm disappointed in the fashion in which we've gone 0-2. I was hoping to see less slow starts and less giving away games we should win. Also less lax coverage.

Exactly!!

What are your thoughts on Arizona then?

Did you see how the Patriots went IN to Arizona..scored on their first 2 possessions and were also up by two scores after the first quarter?
Did you see how Jimmy G (in his first start) threw for 264 yards a td and no interceptions, all on the road being the underdogs?

We need to stop pretending like this "depleted" patriots team isn't good just because they were missing Brady.

It's hard to say those guys would have had any success here. We've been through a lot of coaches and really none of them were setup to win except Wannstedt who was winning with Jimmy Johnson's players. Once Wannstedt started trading away picks and drafting his own players the talent level on the team fell drastically until he was 0-7 in 2004 and then quit. Player acquisition and talent evaluation has been an issue with this team since 2000 when Wannstedt took over and it's still an issue. I'm hopeful Tunsil and Howard turn out to be long term answers at their respective positions, at least that would be a start...but I thought the same about Jake Long when we took him #1 overall and he didn't last long here either due to injury...that was just dumb luck though.

Regardless, I know Grier and Tannenbaum say they're going to go BPA in the draft but that's not a luxury this team can afford. If we had better front line players, then fine...improve the depth by getting BPA but you really need to address some glaring needs on this team before you take BPA regardless of position. There should have been two offensive players taken in the last draft, not 6, and both should have been on the O-line. Tunsil was a no-brainer but there should have been an OG there as well...4 OTs playing on an O-line is a major reason we can't run the ball. The other 6 players should have been on defense. As bad as our linebacking corp is its just incomprehensible that we've made no attempt to address the issue in the draft for TWO FREAKIN YEARS. The solution is not adding more undrafted free agent linebackers.

Very simple.

We did not expect to win our first two games.

But neither did we expect to lose in the fashion that we did.

Everybody is saying, "Wow, look at the 2nd half effort! What a comeback! Nearly had them!"

If we are good enough to play that well in the 2nd half, we can play well enough to not get that far behind in the 1st. It doesn't make sense.

Losing was more or less expected. Playing that poorly for the majority of the game was not.

So yeah. We're a little pissed.
