While the rookies said they’re just starting to scratch the surface of the offense, they expect it to be up-tempo and fast paced. "All I know is, it's fast,...said tight end Arthur Lynch. I’ve never played in an offense like this. We played in a spread kind of thing (at Georgia). It’s just one of those things you’ve just got to get used to it. Even (tight ends) coach (Dan) Campbell, I think all the coaches are just trying to get adapted to it, and they will.”

Year three of the Philbin fast-paced offense!

We have to make it work this time. The scheme just has to work. Every year we practice fast, then slow down in games and execute a vanilla offense. Lazor is here, maybe this is it.....it will really come together. I was absolutely fine with Lazor running the practice while Joe was taking a FMLA day.

I read last week, think it was here, that Lazor was advised to not take the job if he did not have complete contol of the O, and that it was given to him. So, this will be his O.

Let Philbin search the parking lot for gum wrappers. I want Lazor running this team (offense)

Up tempo is the way we get to 12 wins, homefield advantage in the playoffs, and our path to the Superbowl. GET IT ****ING DONE ALREADY!!!

I think I'm gonna put a little cash on the Dolphins to win the SB if true too.

At the end of the day, it all rests on the QB. This offense will go as far as RT can take it. Can he elevate his game from a cerebral aspect and master all the facets of this new offense. He has an above average supporting cast now. No excuses.

Here's a blind stat, with many factors coming into play, for a little discussion. Philly had a total of 1133 plays on O, and 1195 on D. Miami had 1042 plays on O, and 1167 on D. So, the Eagles had an average of 6 more plays a game on O.

IF Lazor can cut down RT's picks to be close to Foles last year, that alone is likely worth a couple of wins.

Philbin has never run the offense. He has left that to the OCs. At minimum, it appears that Lazor is bringing on elements of Kelly's quick hit offense in Philly. This would be a fundamental and long overdue change to an offense that rarely through screens.

I really think the plan was to go up tempo last year but mental mistakes and the OL play derailed the plan. Lets hope we can do better and score more points this year which has been a problem for far too many years.

I think losing 2 of our starting linemen may have hurt the scheme alot. John Martin had been in the offense for a year and had training camp to learn where he was supposed to go and when. Bryan Mckinney was picked up mid season from bmore. Brenner was brought in late. It's hard to just throw guys into a zone blocking scheme. It's even harder when we are doing with guys we took off the scrap heap. The ugly fact of the matter is there is a reason some guys are astarters and some guys are on the practice squad. It just the law handed down by the football gods...lol

And on top of that SB, Philly didn’t run many plays. They had the NFL's most effective quick strike offense using less plays to score points than any team in the NFL. It was the antithesis of a ball control offense. The only way they got so many plays was because of the ridiculously high tempo.

While it puts a lot of stress on the defense, it tends to get the lead and force the opposing team away from the run. Without Paul Soliai to anchor our front, we will need that to remain competitive defensively.

Fortunately, with Wake, Olivier and Jordan we have enough ends to do it. And now all of our DT's are small quick gap penetrators designed to rush the passer. So like all of Peyton Manning's teams, we need to get the early lead and look awesome or we will be dominated on defense at the end.

It's a gambling strategy to be sure ... but oh what fun the games can be to watch. And, it is likely to work most of the time.

Great point Digital. To me, that's more important than the blind stat.

Another comparison with Philly is ther pass protect was not much better than ours. Tey gave up 34 sacks, 37 hits, and 141 hurries, with Miami being at 51- 42- 131, although they were light years ahead of us in the run blocking. Also, Foles took 30 sacks in 11+ games but, 6 were on him for holding the ball more than 4 seconds, while throwing next to no picks.

I can see Lazor taking Tannehill to the next level as I believe he has more talent than Foles, and 21 games more experience in the NFL.

This is so true. Last year in Philly their QB threw a ridiculous 27 TD's to just 2 INT's. Our QB will have to do better on his turnovers to make our offense as good as Philly's.

This isn't going to be "Philbin's fast-paced offense" with Sherman running it...this will be Lazor...so I will give him the benefit of the doubt right now. Of course if we get the same old crap...I will be the first to crucify him...
