Just how many weeks notice would the Miami Dolphins have given Ricky Williams if they felt getting rid of him was in the best interest of their team, as he apparently felt getting rid of them was in the best interest of his mental health?
Many called him selfish for leaving on short notice. Did any consider they were being just as selfish because all they cared about was their future, not his?

There is NO loyalty in the NFL (or any professional sport). He did to a team what teams do to players every day. It is no different. He just turned it around on them. Williams may seem strange to us, but I do not fault him for leaving. I have moved past it. I'm glad he's back and I wish him luck.

But no, we don't look at it like that. We're mad b/c he let our favorite team down, by doing what he really wanted. That's why athletes shouldn't be called "role models". They should live their lives for themselves, not for some snot nosed little kid in New York who wants his favorite "role model" to play until he's 60
