In my opinion, what has really made the Wildcat successful is that it's allowed Miami to get Ronnie Brown, Ricky Williams and Patrick Cobbs on the field at the same time. It's more about playmakers, I believe, than fooling the defense with gimmicks. As much as I like the idea of having Pat White add his dimension of pass and run, why not let Chad Pennington run a version of the Wildcat. Ok so it's more like the spread, but really we could put Brown, Williams and Cobbs on the field with Pennington and trust his ability to make good decisions with more talent at his disposal. I'm not saying to give up on White, but taking Pennington out removes one of the team's best players. Thoughts?

I think we have athletes that need space to operate. I like Ronnie and Rickie one on one against most linemen and backers, but holes don't seem to open up with our traditional sets. I think it'd be horrible to have Pennington operate out of a wildcat set but I'd like to see either sweeps or screens designed that give the backs a chance to find open field.

I think why the reason why it was successful is because no one saw it coming. It took the league by surprise. This year the league has awaken from being knocked out.

It is not a gimmick or a trick play. It is a formation that allows us to get our best players on the field and let them do what they do best. That is why it will continue to be used, and I am happy it will be.
