Here's an Idea

nah...we've got our pitch forks ready and we've found a sturdy tree that can support a rope...

it's damn hard for me to get excited about these 3 guys when at least in my eyes all 3 should at best be looking at coordinator jobs in 2012...

I agree. Im not excited about any of them. Im not gonna crucify them if theyre hired until they deserve it, but none of the final 3 were on my list of favorites.

Legit question, does anyone know Pats fans reaction when they hired BB?

understandable, and as I've told you hoops, I'm intrigued by the 3 names.

Bowles is gonna be a head coach in the league one day. I don't think our job is right for him, but I think he'll be a good head coach when he gets the chance. I know it was only three games, but I noticed subtle changes in how the game went that was different from Sparano that I liked.

We've discussed multiple times how Green Bay is one of the best run organizations. Philbin has been with them for nearly a decade. Now there are question marks to him (mainly not calling his own plays, and having Rodgers) but that system is a good system, Rodgers or no Rodgers, and if Philbin gets the job, even if we got HALF the production of GB, it would be a success.

McCoy I understand not liking. Gimmicky offense that wasn't good overall. But he's learnt under a variety of coaches. As a position coach, he's been under Bill Musgrave, Richard Williamson, Dan Henning (before he went senile), and Bill Davidson. As a position coach in Carolina, he did a decent job. He also learnt under Josh McDaniels. Throw in that he was a QB and it's worth a look. I don't really judge him by the offense under John Fox mainly due to Fox being a huge proponent of the "3 yards and a cloud of dust" style of play.

I like my monkey idea better but the mods have itchy trigger fingers and I guess didn't find the "humor" in it so they moved it to the spam folder in about one minute after posting it.

Because God knows this has been the model franchise of the NFL for decades now, no need to go bashing them about how they do their business or anything. I'm sure this hire will be "the one". No more 1-15, 4-12 or 6-10 for us, Todd's taking us places.

After reading this post, and your line of Sarcasm, I think the Mods took 59 seconds to long.

lol probably makes a mod's job easier.... I wanted to kill myself having to moderate the John Beck threads.
John beck wow. That draft made me cry. I wanted Quinn or Willis in that order. So Brady didn't work out so well but neither did the ginn family or beck. I still remember the fans booing cam Cameron and thinking to myself as took the podeim this guy is already done

When I saw Cam do that thing where he was like "Heeey guys, we need to turn those frowns upside down" or whatever it was he did with the thumbs up, I knew it was gonna be a long year.

Hey guys we need to turn those thumbs this way he said. At that exact moment I knew he was done

Now this will get me bashed, people will probably vote this a 1 star thread, but I have a CRAZY idea that might just be worth considering.

Instead of bashing whatever hire Ireland and Ross make, now... here me out... maybe we should wait till the coach has a draft and starts coaching games BEFORE we consider them failures.

Again, it's a crazy way of thinking I know, and people are going to call me a homer or an idiot, or a blind sheep or whatever but there's no reason to hate somebody before they get a chance to show what they can do.

Of course, I'm preaching to some people who are calling our front office idiots because they passed on a 3rd round QB whose 3rd on his team's depth chart and probably won't play for 2 or 3 years if that.

Look I understand the skepticism, but we have no idea how any of these guys will do as head coach.

But again, that's just me. I'm just trying to be open minded.

That is a great idea, of course you will pay for my tickets and pick me up and drop me off at the stadium right? Cause that's the only way I'll be going.

Yeah, i posted about this in another thread. I have family that is from Boston, and they always tell me how when the Pats got Belichick, everyone and their mothers went crazy and hated the move because Belichick was less than impressive throughout his years as a head coach in Cleveland. Then he got Brady and the rest is history. Now im not saying the Head Coach we hire is the next Belichick but the point is that no fan knows anything about evaluating a coaching candidate at this level. Whoever the next coach is, i know that the most important thing to his success will be the QB that he gets.

Sorry but Ireland lost me years ago when we drafted Pat White instead of Connor Barwin. John Jerry instead of Jimmy Graham. Patrick Turner instead of Mike Wallace, and ya, I was calling for all these guys and a bunch more successful NFL players to be drafted rather than what our FO chose.

I respectfully doubt that anyone here knows enough about all three candidates to predict their future. I am sure that I don't.

Parcells has already gone on record by saying that the Pat White pick was his "mistake". I wonder how many of those other picks you mentioned were also influenced by Parcells and not fully Irelands. As far as i know, Irelands first offseason without Parcells was last yr.

I heard this last year in regards to Tony and Chad. We heard the previous year with Tony and Chad. We heard this again with Cam and with Saban when some wondered why a college coach was given so much power. Well I'm done with chances. Ireland and Ross have had multiple chances and failed. All we can do is let our all world gm pick his guy then watch Ireland pick his coaches staff and just wait and see what happens.

So blind faith despite repeatedly bad choices for years in the FO is the request? I tried doing that a few years ago to have them draft a kick returner in the first round. Then give a lame duck coach an extention after embarassingly missing out on the top coaching prospect, etc. etc. Fool me once . . . shame on you, fool me 35 times . . . . woe is me.

Ginn was not Ross or Irelands fault...they were NOT HERE....Name one other head coaching prospect OUTSIDE of Harbaugh last year that was worth anything giving the fact that there was an insanely abbreviated Offseason...and he didnt embarrassingly miss out on Harubaugh...The thinking was, Harbaugh wanted to stay on the westcoast in a lot of media circles...I truly believe that Ross could go out and convince Cowher to join as HC and STILL get bashed for it around here...If you remember correctly Ross didnt fully take control of the Dolphins until 2009 and Parcells was still "running" the team up until 2010...
