Here's my take for 06 offseason...

I've seen a bunch of people put in their 2 cents on what they feel like we should do this offseason. So I figured, why not throw mine in as well. I watch a ton of football and talk with my cousin a lot who is a sports anchor. Well here is what I would like this offseason. I might be un realistic but I feel this is extremely possible with our cap situation and draft picks.

Notable FA Signings:
WR Reggie Wayne- Although not suitable to be a #1 receiver he would make a pretty good tandem with CC.

C LeCharles Bentley- He has been consistent for years and he is huge upgrade from McKinney.

OLB Julian Peterson- We have the money and with him Zach and Channing we would have a great core of LB's.

QB David Carr- I think Houston is going to draft Leinart and not give Carr the $. Carr has a great arm. Good mobility and with an HH O-line/R & R/good WR's. He could Flourish in our offense.

Trades:
WR Marty Booker- I like Marty, he's been pretty consistent however I think Saban is going to trade him for a 3rd round pick maybe a 4th. To who you ask? Well teams like: Houston, Philly, Titans, B-more, Carolina, San D, G-Bay, or Minny.

Draft:
1st round: CB Jimmy Williams (Miami)- Best CB in draft. Saban likes bigger CB's. He's 6' 3". He's fast, leads all CB's in tackles for losses. He is as good a corner as you can get in the draft.

2nd round: LT Marcus McNeil (Auburn)- Reunited with his buddy Ronnie Brown. He played extremely well at Auburn and could have gone in the 1st round last year had he declared. Well Tackles like Winston/Ferguson/etc have made him an early 2nd round choice for 1st round talent.

3rd round (1): QB- I would love Jay Cutler to be available here, however I don't think he will be. Therefore I would go with someone like Paul Pinnegar/Brodie Croyle/or Omar Jacobs(if he falls this far). Depending on who declares I'm sure one of these will be available here and would be a good back-up for Carr and gives us time to develop him.

3rd round (2): WR Maurice Stovall (Notre Dame)- 6'5" 220 WR who has good hands, great leaping ability and would look great on the field with CC/Wayne/Stovall in the slot with Welker in the slot as well. Has good speed and runs his routs well. I'd love to have Brady Quinn available to us to throw to him but Quinn will probably stay in school a la Leinart.

4th round: OLB- Gerris Wilkerson would be nice here. He is a big OLB like Saban likes with good speed and vision. He has played DE in college and MLB. However he won't fall that far probably so therefore we look at guys like Pierre Woods from Michigan who has also played both DE and OLB or William Kershaw from Maryland who runs a 4.55 and is 6'3" 232lbs and plays OLB. This is a project for his 2nd season in the NFL when Channing moves to MLB and Zach has most likely retired. He would be playing OLB with Peterson a great OLB for him to learn from.

Other notes:
Travis Daniels- Moves to his natural position of FS. This is where Saban is going to play Travis and he is well suited to play FS for the fins. Spliting time with Yeremiah Bell who has come on as of late.

Lance Schulters- Moves to SS and has another solid year for us also splitting time with Travares Tillman who has been doing well lately as well.

So what do you guys think? I'm heading home now but will be back on here in an hr to check back to see what people think about my scenario.

It reads well but, I really don't like David Carr he makes too many mistakes and gets sacked alot. He will be injured at that pace. I like Pinegar from Fresno State for our Draft QB. But if we had a choice on a vet I like Billy Volek. Just my 2 cents.

I like your free agent choices, I would also add Steve Hutchinson fi we can get him.

I don't think we'll get any of these but if one of their teams fails to resign them then obviously Hutch, Wayne, Bentley, Peterson any of them would be great at the right price.

As for your draft, it seems full of "big name" guys. There's more than a handful of players in the draft. I like Jimmy Williams but I think if there are no QB's available and we go defense that Ngata would be a better pick for us because a great D-Line can make mediocre DB's look good but it doesn't work in reverse.

2nd round, If Marcus McNeil falls there's a reason. Often everyone wants the guy that falls because they think they are getting value. But, if the person is falling for a reason then maybe your catching a falling knife. However, there are lots of good O linemen and I would be happy with a Linemen or linebacker in the 2nd (obviously if we haven't taken a QB yet and Cutler is there, I would give him a look.)

I like your list, And I don't understand why some people don't see the potential in David Carr. He is in a offense that can't seem to block for the passer.. I believe any quarterback in the Texans system with the kind of non-blocking for the quarterback. Would have as many or almost as many sacks as Carr. I know the Dolphins can block better then that. And they are doing a great job of blocking for our quarterback, (something like 14-15 sacks for Gus). Carr can make all the throws and can scramble I believe he would fit into our system and flourish and become a really good quarterback that can be with this team for years. Also I think Carr if let go would love to come to Miami and saying that I believe we could get him much cheaper then drafting a quarterback in the first round.

Whilst I agree with what you say about Daniels moving to FS and drafting a CB in the first round, I would not agree to trading Booker, who IMO is our #1 WR at the moment. I do like the idea of drafting an OLB too, and would spend most of the draft shoring up the D

Those aren't all "big name" guys. But really Marcus McNeil isn't one of the top 5 tackles coming out in the draft this year. He should have declared last year. Thats why he could drop to the 2nd round. Stovall is a good receiver but hasn't really put up the stats but 2 games this year. I've watched a bunch of ND games and have kept my eye on him. He's got good speed and can make the catches. I just don't see where he will warrant a 1st or 2nd round pick unless he has a great combine and pro day. We will have the money in the off season to sign these FA's. Guys like Wayne and Peterson will have to move teams because their teams will not have the cap space to sign them.

It's not really his fault that he gets sacked a lot. I mean c'mon his offensive line is horrible.

See, I think that if I had a choice between CC and Booker along with Reggie Wayne I think CC is the better option. With the 4 WR's of:

CC
Reggie Wayne
Maurice Stovall
Wes Welker

you have a bunch of options and CC would be able to work well while Reggie Wayne runs next to him in 2 Wr sets. Honestly I don't think Booker is fast enough to be a #1. He does have good hands, but there has to be a casualty and I think Booker would be the casualty before CC.

We need a number 1 receiver not another number 2.

You don't think that Wayne would help open up CC or be open while playing next to CC? I agree that Wayne isn't a #1 but what other Wr's are available in FA?

Carr would be the biggest addition. He would do very well in our offense:D
