He’s gone.

Most folks yes we wanted to draft him, but all those people including myself did not project a seriously flawed work ethic.

I noted my suspicions pre draft but I thought he would try to be a great player.

Turned out to be a lazy bum so I can’t blame folks for supporting him then
By "then" you mean the critical moment after year 4 when he got the bag and there was plenty of evidence not to give it to him? Lol, that was what truly mattered. Everything else is inconsequential in comparison, but the truth hurts in truth. Truth is revealed over time like a Picasso.

God bless Iran. God bless the USA.

Hunt and Paul also looked decent in a number of games their rookie seasons, Jonah looked terrible in just about every game, that's the difference for me. I said at the start of this season I was sceptical about Paul but he's completely changed my mind, he worked really hard in pre-season you could tell by the body change and he played way above my expectations last season.

I guess I'm saying I'm very, very sceptical of Jonah until he proves me wrong. I'm hoping he improves as he really couldn't get any worse.
Im right there with ya. Paul and Hunt looked like rookies with potential. Jonah looked absolutely terrible in every game.

Have to see what Appelbaum can do with him. I say move him back to his college position of RG and give him a better chance.

The fanbase didn't offer Tua that contract. That's not a fair accusation.

At best, you could point to a few credible minds like Kyle Crabbs who (under the pressure of having to cover the team in a somewhat team-friendly manner) tried to rationalize the move by explaining how (in theory) it might (in the best-case) sum to a wash wherein the 5th year extension paired with 1-2 Franchise Tag extension years would equal roughly the same thing as just extending him and that by entering contract negotiations early the team might have some better leverage in the distribution of money against the cap and thus the long-term planning around the QB.

I wouldn't accuse any Dolfan of ever feeling good about the Tua deal for the simple reason that nobody really wanted to see the team lock itself into a guy who'd been hurt in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 and whose only year of staying healthy was one in which he'd strangely put on a bunch of weight and avoided contact like the plague. Having that guy on a 1-year 'prove-it' deal as Tua was seemed like a perfect scenario for the Fins and it's really anyone's guess as to why the Owner ever agreed to the deal Grier and the Front Office negotiated.

I think a lot of fans were willing to accept the move in an effort to "be happy for the player" but from a purely Dolfan perspective, nobody in the fanbase was really in any position to benefit. There might've been a few young kids or something and hey, who are we to ridicule their favorite player...but no serious person argued for it.

To be fair, this team makes a lot of bad moves. Those who aren't willing to get behind those moves in some fashion are already gone. This team has lost a lot of fans over the last 2-3 decades. It's a credit to the loyalty of those who were willing to stick around....don't get that loyalty confused with saying they were for this move or that. Rarely has that really been the case, particular in the most recent example of Tua.

Of course the fanbase didn't offer Tua the contract. But all the folks who are crapping on him now, and we're supporting his extension during the moment of truth after year 4, were dead wrong and care not to admit it. Truth was revealed, but most people don't care about the truth. I do.

Bottom line, people don't know as much about the sport or position as they claim, especially Slimm. Here comes a ban lol.

Got respect for @Michael Scott, at least he owns it. We all get things wrong, but only some of us are brave enough to admit it.

Grier used two draft picks for eickenburg

Grier used two draft picks for jonah savinea

Grier used two draft picks for Solomon kindley.

All In the past five years

He’s trending 0-6

Our professional multi million dollar dolphin employee

GM position is a scam imo.
The board could’ve drafted so much better OL. (And in general)

Like was he just picking OL randomly to try to appease us

So you're wasting energy because people on the internet won't apologize for what they were hoping would go right some years ago and probably got even more disappointed about than you did considering you apparently saw it coming? Or maybe telling others they're wrong is kind of a defense mechanism of sorts so you don't feel stupid for wasting time on this team? Hehe...

Dude....I wanted Tua badly in 2020. I thought he had all the instincts for the position. I think the mistake was overlooking how small he was. Herbert has been exactly what I thought he'd be. I didn't want it then and I don't now. But after a couple years, I was ready to push for Deshaun Watson in 2022 when we had the chance, LOL. People get things right and wrong.

Heck, we could've had both guys and been onto the next by now had we done that. 😆

IMHO the only lesson is that it's better to be early and ditch someone than to wait around on change. Be decisive and take the steps to replace someone. That seems to be the only way.

The only thing anyone here is 'right' about all the time is that it's a pointless waste of energy arguing over what move this team will screw up next.

Naw, if you’re gonna pretend to be an expert, be an expert and get things right more often than not. Especially the big things like Tua’s extension. Don’t be a fake and try to revise the past. Lot of that here, and I’m calling it out.

Who are the Tua supporters of his extension then, that are still defending the extension. Sounds like your conflating defending Tua with defending the extension

You're making a claim, who are these posters. As far as GRYPHONK has seen, many of the biggest Tua supporters, like GRYPHONK, have admitted the extension turned out to be a bad decision.

So who is still defending the Tua extension?

That's not what it is. Like I said I have no problem with fans like Michael Scott, or you even who are not experts and do not claim to be. You can have whatever opinion you want.

I have a big problem with jerks like Pachydermwave, who talked down to people like they were trash, and act like they are God's gift to football. That guy thought Tua was incredible, while Justin Herbert, Daniel Jones, and Trevor Lawrence were trash. In reality, Tua is trash and those other 3 are decent NFL QB's.

If you're gonna act like a d*** and a big shot and are DEAD WRONG, you deserve to be shot down (metaphorically speaking).

Those who argued vehemently for Tua's extension, and are now trashing him, spare me on your next QB evaluation. Unless you can admit the truth, which is that you have no idea what the f*** you're talking about, which is perfectly fine. But at least admit it.

I want to hear from the smart guys who had it right all along, guys like @Sticky Gloves.

Most Dolphins rookie OL’s who stank never got any better. I’ve still got PTSD from Dallas Thomas.

I’ve not got a lot of hope for Jonah considering just how bad he was, it wasn’t like he was shaky or had flashes of good play, he just flat out stunk. Ranked 80th out of 80 guards in the league according to PFF. Multiple games of 0 pass protection ratings etc.
I think he got like the 2nd lowest ranking of any player at any position (by their measures). Thats so sad lol

Yeah I don’t think many questioned his work ethic before the contract.

Fair, and that was impossible to forsee. All the reports were that he was a great guy with a great work ethic.

I do think people underplayed the game in KC though, that's where he showed his true colors. He quit in the cold, not something that should have been rewarded. And we had ALL the leverage.

Let bygones be bygones, at least you're not a jerk. You're a good guy.
