as Luck or Griffin . . . . . I see him in the same tier"

Gil Brandt

"I love Tannehill . . . he has all the qualities needed to become a
great player . . . he has the quickness and the accuracy . . . .
I don't see any weaknesses."

.

Former teammate Vonn Miller said "the colts should give Ryan the
challenge of succeeding Peyton Manning . . . he's a great athlete
only played QB a year and a half , did a lot of amazing things"

* 844 receiving yards as a redshirt frosh
* led team in receptions as a soph (46r)
* 1st start - school record 449 yds 4 tds
* 3744y 29td 15int - rush 355y and 4td
* ProDay: hit 65 of 68 passes 2 w/drops
* 19 career starts - - became the only QB
in college football history to beat OK , TX
and NEB in the same season - did so over
a 6 game span - - garnered a Top 10 pick

amazing indeed Vonn

.

so, this is how it feels to have young, fresh, highly-regarded talent
-jeff should stick around awhile , , , , , we could get used to this

a franchise QB , book-end tackle , seam-threat TE and a top 30 RB
-even more, came across a source-mock that ranked our players

8 - 32 - 33 - 53 - 86 - 113 ..... that's damn near 6 top 100 players
more interestingly , of the 3 players not listed , 2 were projected
to go even higher by more reputable draft sources , , , , , , i.e.,

.

BJ Cunningham , 6thR pick , #183 overall

"an impact player with 3rd round value"

NFL.com rated him above 2 thirds , 4 fourths and a fifth round WR
savvy route runner , the best slant receiver in the draft . . . . very
polished, durable, strong and physical . . . i would add clutch

70% , or 55 of his 79 receptions went for either a 1st down or TD
had 3td in the Big 10 title game vs Wisconsin - - and to top it off
he didn't pass just anybody in breaking the school rec. record
- Andre Rison

.

also not included in that list was OLB Josh Kaddu , 5thR pick #155 overall

i'd never heard of the guy before watching his combine film - - wow
awe-inspiring athleticism . . . . . . size, speed and explosiveness
just jumped off the screen . . . extremely fluid and flexible

ideal size and frame . . . 6'3 , 240 , 4.69
rare tools . . . 20reps , 34 arms , 34 vert , 9'11 broad

great in coverage , a forceful tackler and super effective blitzer
projected 3rd round value , , , , , , we get him in the 5th

.

lastly, , , Rishard Matthews , 7thR pick taken #227 overall

projected 3rd/4th round by nfldraftscout (#107 overall)

6'0 , 217 , 4.6 , 20 reps , 36inch vertical , 10'3 broad

sure-handed in traffic , tough and physical , snatches the ball out the air

despite protests, performed at combine with re-aggravated MCL sprain
finally healthy at pro day , ran a 4.4 twice and starred at positional
workouts running crisp routes and catching everything in sight

.

source-mock 6

man

imagine next year's draft when ireland's not pigeon-holed by
holes and needs , , can select best player available thruout

that's a scary thought for the rest of the league

Is this a longform Haiku? I'm confused...

This thread inspired my own Haiku:

Signs on Finheaven,
reads a long rambling post,
so disappointed.

You have to read this post word by word, glimpsing through key points will make it seem confusing. I first saw it and I was like "wth", terrible formatting, but made sense :).

I really love this draft..But after looking over some past drafts of several successful teams, I have to sit back and slow my roll. None of the drafts of teams like NE, GB, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Indy and other successful franchises ever got 100% of their picks to work out. Sometimes it wasnt even 50%..That being said, I think we drafted alot of talented guys and it should be fun to watch.

I'm excited about our draft/team this year, too! I think Tannehill/Ireland/Philbin should be given 3 years. Lets add a first round WR next year in the draft & give Tannehill some time.

Do you think Tannehill sits a year, starts the season, or comes in mid way?

It's simple to read and understand. Try using some intelligence and put the beer down ;)

Not to diminish what Ireland did during this draft but if you honestly believe it was all him then well I can't say much else.

It is my belief that the arrival of both Philbin and Sherman made this draft as good as it may seem right now.

The criticism of Ireland seems to have made him open himself up to other avenue's of thought process and he seems to have become his own man and not follow his big daddy's (Parcell's) footsteps (which were leading him to disappointment).

In the end it's all for the better. However, don't forget that this draft wasn't all Ireland while at the same time giving him his props for signing off on it and taking risks.

i agree with everything the OP said. since Saturday I've gone back through all of my draft digests and on-line sources, and the first thing i noticed when trying to find our prospects was that they were all drafted a round or two before the source called(except for Egnew who definitely fills a need). It may or may not be too soon to think we hit a home run with this draft, but it sure beats scouring the internet trying to find what littlle information is had on some no-name prosept picked by the dolphins in the 4th round. add to that, the players picked were at positions of need, i really do believe Ireland and co. hit this one outta the park

i wouldn't start him . . . . would try to clean up his throwing motion and decision-
making process while acclimating him to the speed of the game in the practices

would only play him in blow-outs or later in the season if out of playoff race

but you are diminishing what he did

whether the owner/coaches had a hand in the decision-making or not
ireland is the guy who will either take the fall or get the acclaim

if you want to give partial credit to philbin and sherman
. . . . . . . guess who hired them

A QB with little college experience , a tackle that uses finess not power , a TE that does not block , a gamble on a fast RB with injury concerns.

This was the anti - Parcells draft and has Philbin written all over it. Props to Jeff for changing his ways.
