Hester no longer returning kicks

He will certainly improve and 800-900 yards and 3-6 tds for him should be about right but i doubt he will ever be as good a wide receiver as he was a kick/punt returner.
 
i hope that move doesn't bite them, you need your playmaker with the ball at all times
 
Hester can do some nice things but he is never going to have the ball-playing ability of a number one receiver.
 
What I always thought an interesting play for Hester to be was have him as a deep back (10-15 yards from the LOS) and pitch it back to him. He'll be back far enough to see the play develop and holes open, and he can run it like a kickoff. Obviously, this is a dangerous play because of the potential for loss of yards, and probably injury since LBs are waiting on the other side of the line; but DH certainly has the skills and ability to make something like this work.
 
With Cutler now in Chicago, Hester could thrive as the Bears now have a QB who can throw an accurate deep ball, thus playing to Hesters strenght.
 
I think you have to a total ******* to holster a great weapon. But, that's why it's Da Bears
 
Man, so awwsome to watch him return, it was fantastic! Seems to be handycaping Chicago
 
Bad move from the Bears. Hester is probably the greatest return man of all time. He was a TD waiting to happen. Having a returner like that is HUGE, setting you up with great field position and getting you TD's.
 
Don't get the move. You take away the best part of his game, you take away one of the most electric return men in the history of the game to try and polish him into a WR. It's stupid. Hester can change games by returning kicks. Why would you stop that?
 
The problem is they committed a shed load of money to him and feel they have to get value back. It's more obvious a return at WR but I agree he's never going to be a great receiver over what he did as a return man. For what he's been paid he should be doing both anyway!
 
Hester has fair WR skills but is never going to be great. He is a great KR player but he doesn't have the WR hand skills he would need to become a top WR.
 
IMO that's a bad move for the Bears. they are trading 5-6 return TDs for maybe 3 receiving TDs. Hester struggled as a KR/PR last year as he tried to become a more polished WR. i doubt things will get better again now that he's asked to play an even bigger role on offense.
