What do you think about Cleo? How was he in preseason?
When famed rock columnist Jon Landau saw a 25-year-old musician open for Bonnie Raitt in 1974, he wrote, "I saw my rock and roll past flash before my eyes. I saw something else: I saw rock and roll's future and its name is Bruce Springsteen." Well, I watched the Chargers beat the 49er's in Thursday's pre-season finale. And guess what? I saw football past flash before my eyes. I saw something else: I saw football's future and its name is ...
Cleo Lemon.
Who?! That's right, Chargers third-string quarterback, Cleo Lemon. In only a quarter's worth of football, a man named Lemon stole my heart. The former Arkansas State gunslinger put on an absolute show. Down 21-14 in the fourth, Lemon rolled to his left, escaped three 49ers defenders, and heaved a 30-yard bomb off one leg to tight end Landon Trusty for a score. A nearly impossible throw to make, Lemon ended up amongst his Chargers teammates on the sidelines as he released the pass. Move over Montana to Clark, give me Lemon to Trusty!

Bolston said:Lemon has shown tons of improvement over the last couple seasons, and was easily our best performing QB in the preseason. We felt very confident about having Cleo at #2, even though we all collectively felt like he would eventually have to leave and start somewhere. He's still a little young and slightly raw, still has some development to go through, but he will be a very good QB before too long. He'll be starting for you guys before the end of the season.

Socalblitz said:Finnasty23, you got a good GB. We're pissed to see him go. He's mobile, accurate, and has a decent arm.
Nasty said:here is a link to a thread on the Chargers board. It was from the day of the Feeley-Cleo trade. Most of them were pretty pissed... they really liked Cleo...

First of all, nice win against the Bills.
About Cleo, you'll hear debates about whether or not he's first string material. Well, to answer that I always go back to Tom Brady. I'm sure tons of people were saying the same about him, or any backup QB for that matter. Anyway, yeah, a lot of people were sad to see him go, but with the whole Brees/Rivers thing, it wasn't significant. In fact, I think the consensus was that we were happy to see that he may get a chance to play somewhere else. Personally, when we had Brees, Flutie, and Lemon, I thought that Lemon should have been the number 2 guy judging from what I have seen in preseason. I'd love to see him get a start. I think he can be a first string guy, given the chance. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
Oh, and I WANT SEAU BACK!!
Even if some people think he can't play anymore, I'd love to see him in the middle of our LB core right now.
Here's to a good game with no injuries.
