It is somehow a little bewildering how everyone blames Philbin for the mess in Miami and no one wants to blame Hickey. I get how everybody likes his draft and some of his signees. I also realize it is his first year but god, he deserves some of the blames too. To be frankly, I don't see much difference from the previous GM ways of doing things. He over paid for players no one wanted and reach for player because of need. I tell you he is not that much different from Ireland. He should have never signed Finnegan. Miami lost about 2 0r 3 games mainly because of Finnegan. it was a total gamble that he lost. Ditto for Moreno and Delmas. What about Starks ? Overpaid! Do you know that no team, not even one, invited Moreno for a visit. And we paid him more than any running back in free agency. And the draft ? he reached for an offensive lineman because of need and he traded way up for another one. Hey, something we in Miami are very accustomed to. So how is he any different from the old regime ? I don't know. How do you fix this mess ? God help us !

This was about the most preposterous combination of drivel I have ever read.
You really just felt like starting your own thread, didn't you. Sorry, this is a fail in the biggest possible way.

well, regardless of blame, Hickey will have one year to help or his neck will be on a hook as well.

I think Hickey can make some good calls in the draft and he will be sitting prettier this year as far as status. The problem will be with contracts and cuts of some highly paid players. That is dawn but no one believes that around here so its on Hickey. i guess.

Many of the FA signings, in my view, were short term stop gaps until he can get his hands on his guys through the draft. When the guys he signed were healthy, they performed pretty well. Albert, Moreno, and Delmas having ACL injuries were more about bad luck more than chronic injuries. He was left with a pile of garbage from Ireland and it's going to take time to fix. You compare him to Ireland but when was the last time he drafted a guy in the second round that made contributions like Landry?

I don't put this on hickey. He didn't sign Wallace, ellerbe, wheeler, hartline and Gibson to those contracts. He didn't whiff on pick after pick. He signed guys to one year deals other than Albert and all we're playing well before they got hurt. And he drafted well. He couldn't fix Ireland's years of sucking in one year.

Good analysis.....thanks for posting.

I like Hickey, looking forward to the offseason because of him.

Hickey did a really good job in FA and the draft other then the other guy he replaced...I can say his name without throwing up a bit

I believe Hickey will show us how good he really is with how he handles Mike Wallace. I know there is a big cap hit, but there are loop holes if he thinks outside the box

My only big criticism of Hickey's year one was not getting better guards for this line.

I also thought we should have grabbed Seantrell Henderson as he didn't go till round 7.

If only they would have let him pick his coach because to me that's the biggest issue followed by Oline that this team has. Last year you have to fire his o-cord and this year his d-cord should be fired. These are people he selected and both were/are horrible at their positions.
