Not a fan of the hire.. Not a fan of the process but whatever.. its too late at this point.. we are stuck with it so might as well deal with it.

So... that out of the way.. Hickey get to work. Fix our freaking OL, then resign Grimes.. Everything else can fall into place from there.

Well said. A lot of guys sound good when you read about them on paper, but really we don't know who would or would not have worked out. But as you said, we might as well deal with it. I am and ready to move forward.

I expect Hickey to be really aggressive this off-season and try like hell to get some OL talent in here that fits our scheme. I know it takes time, but it seems to me that our team is a mix-match of players with some well suited for our scheme and others not.

1. Resign Priority Free Agents - Grimes then either Soliai or Starks. Maybe both considering the down year for both of them.

2. Get thru the Wells report whatever the conclusion, mitigate the damage, salvage what salvageable, and go forward.

3. Draft, draft, draft.

I agree that resigning Grimes is top priority. Whether or not you think the Martin issue is the next most important depends on how easy you think it would be to replace one of the D tackles or sign a FA O lineman. Frankly I'd be making two calls at dawn, one to Grimes and one to Alex Mack's agent.

Cut Wheeler and replace.

Honestly i agree.. but i really want him to focus on the OL. I mean in all honestly we can have 5 new OL next year depending on your view of Pounceys off the field issues.

1. Resign Grimes and either Soliai/Startks and try to sign Clemmons & Carroll to team friendly deals.

2. Fix the o-line and LB crew/depth through draft and FA, find a damn ball hawking FS so that Jones doesn't have to play so much coverage and get a seam/red zone threat TE.

He accomplishes these things and the Fins will already have taken a bigger step than they ever did with Ireland.

Hickey and Philbin will not seem so bad once they start doing moves that we want see....but those move are obvious. Where he will be judged is if he can find quality players in the second tier of FA. Can he snag a good player in a trade for a late pick? Of course, how does he grade out on draft day.

Ultimately, we find out next year how much better or not this team is when looking at the standings.

But how much of next years success.. and I do beleive we will be a game or 2 better. will be because of RT's further development and the fact we do not have 90 year old OC asleep up in the booth?

If they cut him he will count as $5.9m against the cap, if they keep him one more year he will count $6.4. I would say keep him one more year and try using him differently. Wheeler is a downhill LB, not a drop in coverage guy. He's going to count either way against your cap so use him as a situational player unless he shows he can improve his tackling.

Grimes may not even want to return so it doesn't matter what Hickey does. Unless of course they throw a lot of money at him and he still May not want to be in this mess.

Him and his wife have more then gone out of their way to let everyone know they want to stay.. Gotta love Twitter.

Not to be the grammar and spelling police, but it's sad some people on this forum do not know the difference between "re-sign" and "resign."

The thing is it's easy to say what should or could be done, but then there are soooo many variables in the execution of it all. Will the free agent you want even care to come here after the reputation we might have? (Hopefully it's not as bad among players at being made out to be) How does it effect the cap? Is the guy you want available in the draft? Is there a trade partner for the guy you want to trade...you all know this. Hickey could agree with everything we say here, but not be able to execute it. Does that make him a failure or was he fighting an uphill battle?
