After everything I've seen, heard, and read this entire preseason, I believe that Hickey is looking to add a QB, RB, swing OT, LB, and possibly a DT, OG, and S. It's more than I thought we would need, and it's not likely he will be able to find many upgrades who will help this season. A trade is possible but, a long shot.

We do have number of players worthy of the practice squad but, not the bottom of the roster.

I'm thinking RB will be the easiest position to find that would be worthy of the 53, maybe even two. We'll probably pickup another QB for the practice squad. I expect us to go in a different direction at kicker, we simply can't trust that Sturgis can stay healthy. And maybe pickup (another) veteran guard, probably someone deemed to be on his last legs.

If TB cuts James.... I dont see anyway Hickey can pass him up right?

Don't see TB cutting him but if they do Lovie Smith is dumber than I thought. James would have run for 200+ the night we played Tampa Bay had he not been hurt early in that game. He's made for the NFL with his style of running and he's a solid special teams player. I said I would have drafted him late the year he came out...said the same thing about Allen Hurns from the U who's tearing it up in Jacksonville as an undrafted free agent.

Anyway I think those positions are the ones mentioned by some of the beat writers...I don't think it's that many. You have to let some of these guys develop...like Walt Aikens who I think could develop into a pretty solid safety. I am interested in a QB for the practice squad, CB for the 53, LB, OG for the 53 or PS as well. I think if Dallas Thomas doesn't show he can play multiple positions like OG (where he's been awful) and RT he probably should be cut and in that case we may need an interior lineman for the 53. Garner is our swing tackle and really if Albert gets hurt I see us moving James to the left side and plugging Garner in at RT.

Can't agree with you more...I can't stand Sturgis. Inconsistentcy at kicker is not what we need, but it depends on who becomes available.

If I had to guess, I'd say K, CB, S, coverage LB, OG and QB. If an interesting RB like James gets cut, for sure, but if not I think we're OK there for this season and we hit it in the draft next year.

I would look for two safeties - one for the 53 and one for PS.

I think that Garner is an "in case of emergency, break glass" type for all positions, and we need a swing OT to replace Fox.

Allen hurns been making plays that's for sure...don't really burst out of his cuts or quick acceleration but it's been working so far for him

I had no idea he was 6 ft 3...absolutely none

If someone gets hurt...you break the glass. He's not on the team just for giggles, he's on the team because he's versatile and can play multiple positions. He's also the first guy off the bench should a starter go down. As it is we'll probably carry 10 or 11 OL on the 53 depending on if they put Pouncey on PUP or not.

I told you that. Hurns is deceptively fast and quick. Solid route runner with good hands and good catch radius. He gives their WR corp a little size since their other WRs are kind of the small side.

True but, I believe we still need a true swing OT for overall depth. Pretty sure Hickey will try to add one in place of Fox.

Nate Garner is under-rated on here. He's staying around.

Just because he is making the team, doesn't make him good...that's why he isn't a starter...if not for his versatility, he would be gone.
