The only guy Hickey really committed to last year was Albert. The rest were easy to cut or 1 year deals. Wonder if he's looking to do more of the same this year?

We need a QB, RB, WR, maybe TE,OG, swing OT, maybe 2 DT's, MLB, maybe OLB, S, and CB. Its likely we fill 2 needs in the draft leaving 10 to come from within or in FA.

I can't see filling that many needs with quality players without going with more commitments on longer term contracts. I think a CB like Culliver or Jackson would be worth it because of Grimes age. Past that it's hard to say because we don't know what coaches think of who we have in house and if they believe they are ready to step up.

As much as we would all like to sign a Franklin, can't be sure that the team is thinking the same in committing that much to an OG. We did not appear to want to last year.

Based on last year, it appears that Hickey would like to build through the draft and develop young players, signing FA's short term to buy time. Don't know that this will work for Ross, Philbin, and Phans this year.

It is going to be a very, very interesting off season.

A bunch more one year deals will tell me that he believes in his ability to draft this team into a contender. Whether he's right or not is up in the air but that's what it would tell me.

We need to get 1 of the units in the "Very good" position.Offense is probably the closest to Very Good.

Actually 1 year deals give you time to develop some of the young guys.I like the approach and hopefully he does another solid draft.

it gives you the ability to develop younger guys and the more expiring fa contracts we have that are replaced by draft picks the larger chance we have at being rewarded comp picks.

I think most here would love to see our team build mostly through the draft, develop young players, and not overpay for FA for half our starters. I can't even remember the last time we did that. It would have been great timing if we did thi when Tuna took over.

Now, everyone's patience is less than paper thin, and I don't know if this approach will be accepted by most fans and Ross for this year.

I agree on bringing in a couple guys to fill some important spots in FA.... but definitely want to build the team out of the draft... and this is a decently deep draft in many positions to do so!!!

We all would like every hole filled...but if we do nothing else...lets make sure we fix the O-line.

I want to see what Tannehill can do not getting sacked 50 times.

Be nice to get that done in free agency....mainly focus on defense in the draft.

I agree with you but what I don't understand is the patience part.We haven't been relevant in awhile. Its not like we have been won SB's over the past decades.

When the teams past GMS HAVE SUCKED Ross and us must give Hickey 3/4 years to see what he can do.i know it's not easy but we need to do this.

Spend for a top guard and get every other need in the draft ( DL , ILB , WR and CB would be my top needs)

I know that's a lot of money to spend on the OL but they'll figure it out and protecting our QB should be a top priority.

It's a double edged sword as it only works if the young guys are ready to step in. Don't think last year worked out very well. Finnegen has to go but Taylor and Davis did not prove they are ready, in part due to injury. Delmas is a FA, and Aikens showed nothing. Moreno is a FA but, Williams showed he belongs. My jury is still out on Smith and Mitchell. Turner's injury killed his year, and our young DT's only flashed.

lots of guards in the draft too.... but we need to bring in an instinctive player and leader, somewhere somehow, for our defense at ILB

I cannot see more that 2 picks filling needs this year. The rest has to come from within or FA.

I agree that spending on an OG would be the right thing to do. Don't know that the team is thinking the same. They could well believe that an OL with healthy players and guys playing where they are supposed to be playing will be good enough without overspending in FA, and they may have a VG point.

Nonsense....we didn'have any quality starting guards last year....and zero depth at tackle.

We need at least one starting guard...and that assumes Billy Turner is ready to start.

We also need some depth at guard and tackle.

I think signing Orlando Franklin should be a top priority. I don't want a guard in the first round. Let's pay Franklin who is proven. You can get tackle depth late in the draft or cheap via free agency. Just need to do a better job of evaluating talent. Fox and Colledge were supposed to help us in the depth area last year and were total wastes of money.

Hickey had a nice first draft....but can he bring in the right guys via FA? That's a key question IMO.
