I rarely make threads here, but after the Taylor signing I put some thought to past "big" off season signings and how they panned out under the regimes in control at the time.

I'm sure many of you Dolfan vets out there remember all of the seasons throughout the 90's and early 00's where we went into the season with a revamped, reloaded team with high hopes.

Many of those years, ended up being disappointments due to this injury, or that player not living up to his potential.

The biggest difference that I see between this team and many of those other teams, and what gives me the most hope this season is that this coaching staff is so much more superior than those of the Wanstedt/Saban/Cameron era.

As evidence from last year with the disappointing Wilford, this staff will not field a player that they don't feel is going to contribute. They have an amazing ability to get the most out of their players. This is a staff that benched the vaunted Wilford and yet found a way to make stars out of the likes of Devone Bess and Greg Camarillo(Cama-whoo?).

This staff also doesn't make dumb personnel moves (David Boston, Wes Welker, Daunte Culpepper, anyone?). They save draft picks instead of shipping them out, and make shrewd signings instead of reaching.

What they were able to do last season with the team they had should be proof enough, but if they are able to do something this year with the schedule ahead and a healthy Tom Brady in New England, I think there is no question that Sporano should win coach of the year honors.

This is why I'm not worried about whether Cameron Wake will pan out or if JT still has some left in the tank. If they don't work out, this staff will not panic, trade away our future to put a bandaid on the problem. They will find someone else to fill in and use them in the best possible way to make them succeed.

With the addition of Pat White, I think this will be a very exciting year to be a Dolphins fan, and am really looking forward to what happens. Hopefully we can add Boldin somehow and make our Wildcat that much scarier. :thanks:
