Hill being Released

I posted this in another thread, but another final gift from Grier is that we have $40m in dead cap in 2027 just from the void years he tacked onto other contracts. Sully is biting the bullet though, these are the moves that had to be done to undo the damage.
The 2027 money is inconsequential as the Dolphins will likely have more cap space than they can spend, even if they post June 1 Tua.

This was always the plan. Grier built a roster and gave it a 3 year window, the plan was always to reset in 2026 if it didn’t work out. The one move they probably didn’t plan on was moving off of Tua in 2026, I’d bet the plan was to restructure his base salary this year to a bonus to give them the cap room to start rebuilding this season or move away from him in 2027.

Obviously it all went to crap with Grier’s crap drafting the last few years leaving the team with no depth and his penchant for signing injured guys biting him in the ass. The one good thing we can say about Grier is that he didn’t try to extend the window and he even traded away a pick last season with an eye on the future instead of going all out to save his job. He could have been aggressive in 2024 and 2025 free agency by pushing cap hits out into 2028 and 2029 like the Eagles but never did.

Daniels makes no sense. He doesn’t save like anything and he’s cheap. Keep for competition and pray he recovers. Prior to Miami had no injury concerns.

Nevermind just saw he was actually cut, thought that was only suggestion. Don’t like that move.
I’m guessing the old coaching staff thought he could play and Daniels just Will Fuller’ed them.

Only thing that makes sense.

So we roll w Tua as our starter then? 😆
If he's as bad as most think then why not? Saves cap space this season and allows you to take the cap hits when you have plenty of space to take them. Unless Quinn Ewers is the answer and beats him out in camp.

If they think they can trade him at some point and it doesn't happen straight away I wouldn't be surprised if they keep him on the roster until after June 1 and even up until camp hoping to find a trade partner.

There could be a team dumb enough to want tua, id imagine thats the only reason hes still around. Unless there's something about the cap I dont understand (quite possible) im for cutting him pre June 1. This season is hopeless so let's just look ahead. Also having the most insanely bad cap situation evet would be a better explanation for us sucking next year rather than tanking.

Actually ideal situation might be just to eat tuas cap hit in a trade and nab a late round pick. He has some value without the dumb contract grier gave him.

I went down to Miami for opening day v Baltimore and the 178-0 shellacking or whatever the score was. Didn’t think we’d win more than 1-2 games that year after that. Flores wasn’t all that bad - had a terrible roster and yet was competitive.
My main point was they sucked for one year and then went 10-6 one year after with Fitz starting first and then Tua going 6-3.

Didn’t buy into the hype train and thought it was fools gold. I also don’t support people who physically abuse women, are jerks to police officers and quit on their team. No matter how many TD’s they score.
Always love the Mr. and Ms. Moralities among us.

Holier than thou people who have no clue what almost ALL professional athletes are like behind the cameras.

True
Except of course in Tywreck case no one needed to see what life was like behind the cameras they just needed to look at court records, media reports and police reports

And yet most of his teammates still respected and liked him. Guess you shouldn't root for them either.

Ewwwwwwww, did Spotrac just lock out all their information unless you pay?!

But that’s nothing to do with the point you made or I responded to 🤷‍♂️
