Fans hoping we bring in Anquan, Ocho Cinco, or some other big name "#1 WR" may have to keep waiting.

People that have followed Parcells are still waiting for him to WILLINGLY* make a big investment(via FA or the draft) in the WR position. Think the most he ever spent was a #2 on Coles, in a year where I believe he had several 1st round picks.

Alot of people on these boards are going to be SORELY dissappointed this offseason.

Parcell's blueprint appears to include BIG BODIES(linemen), mistake-free quarterbacking, heavy TE use(Bavaro, Coates, Witten, Fasano), and RB offensive attack.

Can you name ANY wr from his Giant super bowl teams? Phil McKonkey, Stepen Baker, Mark Ingram(lol), Bobby Johnson.

*Parcells fought drafting Terry Glenn in NE and bringing TO in in Dallas. These owner decisions played large parts in BP's eventual departure from both these franchises

I've made this point repeatedly earlier in the year, but, nobody was listening, so, I stopped. You're absolutely right. BP will scour the second tier WR FA market and, look for talent lower in the draft for WRs. Look for NT, ILB, or possibly Interior line with our first pick, if he doesn't trade down, which I don't think is out of the question. I steadfastly believe that he will make a hard run at Gross.

Great post, but nothing will stop the "we need a number one receiver" posters.

Good posting SuperMark, Goon, Nosleep...., no way in hell we draft a WR on the first day... with Ginn, Bess, Camarillo coming back and London in the back somewhere...

There will be a lot of pitch and catch this off -season with these under-established WRs and Beck and Henne trying to make a case...

If and I say if we drafted a WR first day it would shake the front three to the core and I don't think the brass wants to play head games with these guys...

I not sure, but didn't Parcells take Keyshown Johnson with the
1st overall pick years ago?

Note the wording of the post. Yes, BP took Keyshawn and Terry Glenn both in the first round. He was breaking furniture when he was FORCED to take TG. One WR in the first round of all BP drafts suggests that he will not go after a WR in the first.

Thank God..., too..., we have a stable of able WRs if Chad has the time to step forward and follow through he will find them...

I actually purposely left Keyshawn's name off the list(prob shouldn't have knowing it would be brought up). Keyshawn was drafted #1 overall in the 2006 draft, Parcell's last year in New England. Parcells took over the Jets in 2007.

That may be true, but last year when me and many others were calling for Jake Long, we constantly heard "Historically Parcells doesn't take left tackles in the first round..."

That said, I'm sure we're not taking a WR in the first round this year.

Hey what you did hear was BP loves tall freakin long armed mammoth LTs who will drive you into the ground..., ala Jumbo Elliot..., and that's why he didn't draft twinkle toes Clady

Really? I never heard that. I was convinced he was going to take Jake Long. I was worried he'd take Chris Long. Even if it's true that BP doesn't take OLT's in the first, his MO dicatates a much higher probability of OL than WR.

Parcells once said the success ratio of drafting a WR in the first round is very low. Just like drafting QB, few turned out great.

He believes WRs need to learn the position over a period time, run good routes, make block down the field, have chemistry with QB.... He drafted Coles in the 3rd round with Jets, let him mature for 3 years. He'll do the same with Ted.

personally i would go and take it a step further and say that if the receivers we have continue to develop and camarillo comes back healthy we are in good hands for the future. of course im sure they would not pass up a big time playmaker if he was handed to us a la pennington, but i would be willing to bet if a play making wr and a mean, nasty interior linemen are both on the board when we pick... parcells jeff and tony are going for the linemen, that is a fact and thats what i love about the tuna and his blueprint. that is a great post goon, you have been on point all day bro

LOL, same here. Everytime I made my point, it would get glossed over. People just want what they want, and honestly WRs are just more interesting than nose tackles and centers.

i think you mean keyshawn was drafted in the 1996 draft. and bill took over the jets in 1997:up:
