History of Rick Mueller's draft skills

Great read. It's amazing all the talent that guy brought into the NFL.

GO PHINS~!

I wouldn't ordinarily point this out, but you mean Randy Mueller... I only point it out because you used Rick... I recall something about us having a GM by the name of Rick and it didn't work out too well heh... GREAT READ BY THE WAY! It's funny because this morning I was going to do some research on Mueller and what types of players he has picked in the past, don't think I need to do that now, thanks.

My bag. Rick is his brother.

I like what hes been able to do with his first round picks. Even at times he took a player he didnt need. (Deuce)
Worked out well.

I cant wait to see how he does in Miami with all the power to choose. He can show what hes made of. God knows we need a good draft.

Losing Nick Saban.....0 dollars
Losing 10+ free agents 0 dollars
10 picks in the draft.........Priceless.

Hitting on your first round picks is very underrated. Some love to look for steals, but hitting on the big investments is the key.

Look at some of those O Line picks he made. His hit rate at that position is pretty remarkable. Granted, many of them were early picks, but is still very impressive none the less. If I can see any discernible pattern other than that, it looks like he was always very strong in the early part of drafts, and not so hot at all in the latter rounds. Of course we would all like to see some later round gems unearthed by Randy, but it is more important that he really make the earlier picks count.

The more I think about him drafting McAllister when they had Ricky, I am finding it more likely that he could easily pull the trigger on a guy like Patrick Willis if Quinn is gone or they don't make a move up to get him. I suppose that also makes Adrian Peterson more of a possibility too, but I still just can't see that one happening. It would be one thing if we were picking in the 20's, but to pay another running back 9th pick money when we already have so much tied up in Ronnie Brown would be a bit much.

Did this real quick, but this is the break down of players by conference, for what it's worth

ACC=7
Big East=3
Big 10=7
Pac 10=8
Big 12=8
SEC=9
CUSA=1
WAC=1
MWC=1
Other=5

What WoWs me is how many players that he has chosen are still playing today. While alot of our players chosen in the Draft are either gone from football or playing back-ups for other teams. Another thing was how he was the one who drafted Bulger. If we miss out on Quinn Randy might very well hit on a late QB. I dont know about you guys, but Marc has been a very good QB for the last 5 years or so. Another thing I like is how he is not scared to move up in the first round.I really hope Randy has his best draft yet

Atleast he is not afraid to Draft players out of the SEC, cough Saban. Crowder,Daniels, Allen, Ronnie Brown and Aromashadu.

ok so after that read we need to give him a lifetime contract worth whatever he wants. That is an amazing amount of talent he is finding at all levels of the draft, but his first rounders seem to be money every time. simply amazing.
