Hit, Miss Or Meh? Grading Fins Last 10 First Rd. Picks

Was hoping for Lane Johnson and we got stiffed with Dion Jordan.

Jake Long was a very good pick at the time...I liked Ryan, but who knows how he’d have done.

More like **** the Dolphins for forcing a player into a scheme he doesn't fit.

That was one of the dumbest trade ups in NFL draft history.

No arguments there. Just frustrating to not even get a chance to see if he could have been something decent for us with all his suspensions. Anyone who can not play ball for three years then go to another team and tally four sacks in five games is insanely, athletically, gifted. Screwed that pick up big time.

Pretty sure that (or pats fan or bills fan) is said about anybody who doesn't jizz his pants at Dolphins roster decisions.

Fans of AFC East teams should actually be overjoyed about our roster decisions, because they've been terrible for about 18 years.
Unfortunately, there's quite a bit of truth to this statement.

This is one of the reasons I won't be upset if none of the QB fall to 11, and we don't trade up for one.

I cannot imagine a scenario where all 4 QB are gone, and one of Fitzpatrick, James, Nelson or Edwards is not there.

If that DOES happen...then someone really special has to be there, like Chubb, Barkley, or Nelson.

Because...well, math. I certainly hope they don't screw this up.

No wonder we have sucked for so long...Since Dan, the next best player we've taken in the 1st was Webb and no one has come close since then...

Heres how I look at it. Its the entire draft class that counts. Sure you want that stud in the 1st round every time but so many times a team like us will pick the talent over the fit or injury concerns. In my Dolphins life span Jimmy Johnson pulled off the best draft classes simply by trading around in the draft and aquiring more draft picks. Where there are numbers there is some safty as there are very talented players in every round

Long - Hit, looked like a HOF candidate until injuries took its toll.
Davis - Meh, okay in Miami never realized potential in a Dolphins uniform.
Odrick - Meh, looked good at times but nothing to right home about
Pouncey - Hit, was one of the best centers in football early on and injuries took a big toll
Tannehill - Hit, unquestioned starter buried behind inept coaching but finally started living up to potential in Gase's first year
Jordan - Miss, worst pick in team history
James - Hit, above average RT and best lineman on the team when playing the last three years.
Parker - Meh, never put together a complete season entering year 4.
Tunsil - Hit, not fair to base his rating on hype coming out. Great at LG and settled in as a solid starter at LT.
Harris - Meh, too early to tell and rookie year was decent.

Our issue have not been horrible drafting in Round 1...it's been the failures of rounds two through seven.

Long - Hit, HOF player until coaching ruined his career playing hurt
Davis - Hit, great player, bad coach chased him out of miami.
Odrick - Miss, horrible pick for a DL that's out of the league and in the first round.
Pouncey - Miss, over drafted for a center in the first round that was always hurt and trash.
Tannehill - Hit, bad coaching and bad players on the o-line
Jordan - Miss, worst pick in team history ( unchanged from previous post)
James - Miss, he's inconsistent and always hurt. Gets beat across his face on the regular during must pass situations. trade him ASAP.
Parker - miss, soft trash. can't stay on the field.
Tunsil - Hit, lucked into this pick so we played him out of position. had garbage playing next to him last season. could turn into a miss if he doesn't improve
Harris - miss, so far. barely played so why did we draft him and not a guard?
