Asked Friday if he'd like to return to the Rams in 2009, Torry Holt again replied "no comment."
The writing on the wall has pointed to this divorce since 2007, with Holt chewing out then-coach Scott Linehan on the sidelines and this year asking out of games. Sounding like he's played his last game for the Rams, Holt said Friday "It’s definitely been an incredible run, an incredible 10 years, and I have no regrets." The problem is Holt has a contract for 2009 and St. Louis doesn't have the receiver depth to release him immediately. A trade could happen, but he isn't worth more than a fourth-round pick.

Now some of u guys might chew me out for this, but think of it, a fourth round pick for a vet. who can provide leadership to our younger developing guys... A former probowler who is stuck on a really bad team, plus hes from around here. Why not consider this, if we cant win the housh bidding war?

Yeah for a fourth I guess I could see it, we need someone besides Chad Pennington to teach our very very young receiving corp anyways.. why not get a future hall of famer?

I think we may have a better shot at Lavernius Coles... I'm sure he'll want out of NY in the off-season. And he is Chad P's good buddy! :)

I'd prefer not to start dragging half dead horses into our stable of studs anymore. We did it with Trent Green, Daunte Culpepper, Junior Seau, Cris Carter...the list is pretty long. I want to see us work the draft and mold our young players into the next Torry Holt or Chad Johnson instead.

if you didn't mention leadership, i would probably say no but come to think of it.. you may have a point. Holt can mentor our WR corp and provide leadership just like what CP10 is doing this season.

that would be pretty cool but i do not see bp giving up any draft picks

half-dead? you have got to be kidding

dude has one down year because his OL is awful and you think he is over the hill?

I think we are going to the big game in 2 years and I think Holt has 3-4 productive years left

if I had a dime for every fool who thought a guy has to run a 4.4 to succeed at WR. I would jump at the chance to get this guy at a discount.

Yes but the leadership he could bring in could be huge. I can't really think of any position on this team that doesen't have a veteran leader to help them except for receivers. Yeah Pennington does work with them, but he can't do everything

O-Line - Smiley
QB's- Pennington
Runningbacks- Ricky
Receivers - ?
D-Line- Holliday and Ferguson
LB's- Porter and Ayodele
DB's- Well.. pretty much all of them

seems to me that there is only gonna be 1 elite FA WR

so I would be all for trading a conditional 4th for Holt

I think the price for Holt might be higher that a 4th(look at the production over 30 WR's provide vs the # of busts at WR)

if I have a choice between spending a 4th/3rd on a sure thing for 3-4 years vs a rookie WR that MIGHT start producing in his 2nd year, I will take Holt

How many teams try to do that every season? There are only a few ocho cincos or holts in the league we cant keep waiting... hagan busted, ginn is adequate at the most... we need to attack positions that are hard to develop

For a fourth round pick I'd take Torry Holt in a HEARTBEAT.

He is a consummate professional and the model all wide receivers should follow. He's definitely a player of the Parcells mold. He is an ageless wonder, and he likely has 3+ years left in him.

Very true. Also I believe Holt is the guy that said to Bess after their game " You're going to be special " That alone is a lot to inspire Bess.. but to have him mentoring him all the time? Oh man.. the performance we'd get out of Bess would be downright insane, I bet what we're seeing now out of him is just a hair of what will be soon to become

I would give up a third or fourth round pick for Holt. Like you guys said he can give veteran leadership to the younger wide recievers, and he'll give CP some one to throw to other than the TE's and Bess.
