I will preface this by saying that the cowboys oline is legitimately the best in football

At dt it looks like suh and a bunch of guys...phillips didnt show much they ran some deandre coleman early to get a look at him at the poa i think and hes a plugger type all the way and chris jones provided one of his splash plays rushes but there seems to be real concern about poa play in the run game...if someone doesnt step up teams will just attack us with misdirection taking suh out of it and exploiting our olbs and overzealous wide 9 get upfield edge rushers

not to mention the de play tonight was really poor...mario williams misses a backside contain tackle jason jones gets blocked one on one on a long developing square in by a damn tight end...sorry but that cant happen...it was like the cowboys 3rd tight end even...andre branch with an awful contain play on the first boys td...good grief

i dont see anything in this 2 deep that projects as a solid starter down the road...you wont ever get away with chris mccain as a starting de not with his run game play wide 9 or not...

that was ugly...kiko isnt making tackles didnt get off blocks...i dont really see anything that is his fault but a difference maker at mike does more...period

i dont like his propensity to tackle high either...whered he learn his technique south america? Tackle the hips and drive through with your legs

jelani a little late to recognize in zone misi taking the bootleg bait to get torched on a tight end crosser for a big gain...but you have to expect that with a misi...hes not a carry coverage lb...

reshad jones shows up and brings the physicality and tone with him...iaq i thoght tackled better today and showed nice instincts in terms of route recogntion on the int called back...we need more of that from him

walt aikens continues to show well as a tackler which is a plus...looks the safety part in that regard but how much has he sacrificed in terms of cover ability in the process?

hewitt still looks like the only survivable lb option if we get an injury...kids like burgess and gray are buried although gray shows some decent stuff...the 2 deep is hewitt, johnson, and paysinger...god help us

id rather play with zach vigil and his limiatations than a lost mike like james michael johnson

at corner i liked how lippett competed physically...you cant ask him to cover quick slots in space in man...that wont happen...these boundary options we have right now cant match that kind of quickness...its more about length and ball skills with what we have and stopping the run to hide things at corner...

bobby mccain more too much separation out of cuts...give up the boundary stuff already...that kids gonna get beat and plenty

byron maxwell showing you how much of a give and take corner hes gonna be...make some plays give up some...murdered on that vertical td vs dez...not sure how miami can help him with any rolled coverage though

rashaan melvin still not locating the football in tight red zone press...threw the ball right by his ear for 6

this team needs howard and culliver and it needs cam wake when we do get teams in the sub to take down the damn qb...weight of the world appears on cam again

once teams gameplan vs miamis d i think they are gonna find the pickins a little easier than many expect...take out suh working away from him and keep wake on the bench staying ahead of the sticks and your qb will have time to exploit our corner play

On the deep bomb at the start of the third quarter that Prescott hit, was Aikens supposed to pick up the fly pattern and help McCain deep? I had a crying kid and couldn't see it lol.

I couldn't possibly agree more on the poa problem at DT. That's going to kill us unless we get a solution. I'm intrigued by Coleman. He may be the right fit.

I thought the ends were horrible.

I hate to say this, but I think it's going to be a 3-13 or 4-12 season. Not impressed at all.

The defense looked pretty bad. Hopefully when we gameplan, we can create timely blitzes to manufacture pressure. The DL was playing against the best OL in football but I didn't see anything from them

Man the Cowboys damn near have two starting OLines! We got manhandled at the poa all night. Phillips does NOT look good, Earl Mitchell will have to save us lol. I honestly don't like any of our DTs outside of Suh, we have to make a giant leap of progression in the next month it's crazy. Bobby MC is not a boundary, I do like that Pitts guy though. Gffjkuygbjj this ducking defense looks so beatable, we shoot gaps so hard but somehow Alfredo Morris sidesteps seven guys for 10yrd gains like it's nothing.

The defense needs a complete rebuild. Other than Suh, Howard, Phillips (if he ever decides to show up and play), and possibly a couple of the young guys there aren't many players on this defense that should still be on the team in 2018. Pretty depressing right now looking at the state of this team. Haven't made the playoffs in 8 years haven't won a playoff game in almost 16 years and the team is still so far away from contending for anything.

Zach Martin handled Suh one on one in run blocking more than once. You don't see that every day. Martin is maybe the best guard in football, though. Definitely in the top three or four.

The gaps in the run game up the middle are huge. And we can't contain runs to the outside. Other than that our run defense is in great shape.

He did this @ Buff too. He holds a man up and needs others to come in and finish off the ball carrier or he gets drug forward like Channing Crowder. He has good instincts as to where the ball is, but he can't tackle for @#@$

Call Tulloch tonight....Alonsos not gonna cut it

Tulloch has to be brought in, we have no physicality. As hoops said, once teams game plan Suh out, the defense is done. There is nothing behind him.

And wow, until I read this thread, I forgot Mario Williams was on the team. I did not see him do a damn thing in the game. Wake can not save this defense.

If I were an opposing team, I'd run it down our throats all game and then slaughter Lippet and Maxwell.

A lot of what I saw last night has to do with technique and leverage. The DL is not using their arms to correctly to keep the OL off of them. They are letting the OL get in on them, and then they get owned. Guys like 52, Jones, tries to shoot the gap to one side or the other too much and simply get washed out of the play. They don't maintain gap responsibility at all.

And LB's...do we have any LB's on this team at all? I won't want to hear about these UDFA's...they are cute story and all...but they all suck!

It's scary because it's Duh and Jones and then the D needs to be completely rebuilt. Everything. That shouldn't take Tannenbaum too long. Sigh....

I think we will have the worse d in the NFL this year - and that isnt a criticism of Jospeh. We lack talent on the D line (somehow) across the lb group and our cb group is a disgrace

If we are the worst defense you have pin some of that on coaching. There is enough meat on the bone to not be the worst d in the league.

I don't think so. Bar Suh and Wake I don't see a lot of hope on the D line, the linebackers are average at best, Jones is great at S. And our corner group is just a travesty, Maxwell would be ok as a 2nd/3rd cb but teams are going to put a star wr against him every game and he will give up big play after big play.

Granted the coaches need to get the tacking standard to be higher, but the front office and left them a terrible group. What is Suh being paid next year? something like 20-30m? At 30 years old? on a team in the middle of a rebuild? insanity.
