Frankly i was encouraged although this game kind of set the ceiling for our season

matt moore followed up his worst game with his best...started out throwing a bad pick and a ball leading stills into contact on the move but ran the 2 minute well showed he can handle no huddle and threw the ball underneath with better accuracy than expected...in terms of what he was asked to do and his execution that was his best game...it was also the first game where gase let him change play call side in the run game at the los

gase continues to call the best game i have seen in miami...hes top shelf...at this point an attaboy is deserved for clyde christenson also cause whoever puts together these route combos and different looks to the opposition is absolutely shredding it

shallow crosses to dvp coverage completely beaten by the alignments pre snap and the route concepts...td to stills the alignment and tbe route concepts put the safety mccourty in a bind with miami having essentially a 2 way go given the lb there can never get enough depth vs that route concept of stills...

oline play solid in both phases...stayed healthy which is key...moore rarely touched til tbe game was out of hand...rarely moved off the spot either...some of that is adam gase is the best play caller at protecting the protection we've had too...

now to why this team will barring something completely off the radar happens like the pats beating themselves frankly go home in 2 weeks should we get there...the lb situation...its kiko and nothing else...its just so bad...vj continues to run out there paysinger in the nickel no way new england as smart as that coach is wont absolutely destroy this unit...they tried shifting hull into mike in the nickel a few times and kiko outside it doesnt matter...this lb situation is brutal...pa vs base pa vs the nickel shooting fish in a barrel for the pats

the lb level as a whole carries the bottom grade in this game...jelani looks to be the only potential counter this team had...oh well

the slimmest of chances here is adam gase recognizing this and going to a more no huddle offense...we have to try and out score teams at this point...of course you call the game based on tbe scoreboard but i woudnt wait til im down 20 to nothing on the road to try and counter id have a much quicker trigger finger

and that goes for this week at pittsburgh also...cause what i see with this lb situation would send us home at foxboro regardless of who our qb is...the gameplans and the targets in our d are too simple

after the lb level bacarri rambo plays ways too inconsistent a starting safety...2 weeks in a row top 2 worst grades...flashes some high level play and then has some just awful ones...like the missed tackle on the edelman 77 yarder...what the hell was that? I tell ya what it was...his shoddy play almost got lippetts head cut off...

hes just wildly inconsistent an assignment football player

x howard doesnt look back to pre injury form to me...something looks a little but off...probably needs an offseason to get right

lippett is way more willing a tackler as a corner than i expected...im very happy with his development and feel 2017 at worst he should be a top 3 boundary option

fix that lb level and the corner play looks a heck of a lot better situationally

Tom brady doesnt miss much...against our lb level he doesnt have to...they do a realky good job though of limiting the sticks exposure either with quick screens or draws etc when they get way behind them

i dont understand why new england repeatedly gets away with quick snapping the ball...over and over brady runs to the los and they snap it before they are set for a full second...the blount td late another example...surely someone has made the league aware of it...the 2 point pick play was blatant hogan was blocking more than 2 yards downfield from the get go even...not called...not that it matters...we were outclassed

hopefully come 2017 we got more for them...i know we have a super star head coach and play caller

Welcome back.Haven't even read your entire post yet... just glad it's here.

Quick snapping the ball is bread and butter for them. Their fans certainly know it. In fact, they wonder why WE don't seem to do it. Listening to Patriots fans watch a Dolphins game reveals much about the "Patriot way."

I thought it was a big mistake when Miami went away from the no-hurdle in the second half. Pats D was on its heels. They were also on the field for consecutive long drives. Not to mention, they were back on the field quickly after the long Edelman TD. I think more no huddle was have had them gassed.

Hoops...I mentioned this a few times in other threads...what did you think of the Pats o-line diving at out defenders' knees right at the snap?

Also, the missed interference/holding on Hogan on the two-point conversion was an absolute disgrace.

Gase called a great game, and a simple one. I think he's keeping some stuff close to the chest for when we play these assholes again in a few weeks.

Pittsburgh doesn't scare me, they're far more risky on Offense, and Ben holds the ball a lot longer than Brady, we should see some pressure. Not worried about that game at all.

Any thoughts on Kraig Urbik? I know you seemed satisfied with the OLine in pass protection . . . but Urbik was just so bad today. Moore really masked what could of been a multi sack day on the QB. James was beaten several times on speed rushes. Alot of traffic in front of Matt Moore, deflections, contact while throwing.

Ajayi deserves a nod tho . . . no idea how he managed 59 yards . . . he's a special kid.

The defense . . . lol . . . well we know that situation already. Front 4 has to be all world or we just have to hope for FGs. Teams are gonna put yardage stats up tho.

Great write up like always.

Can't beat the refs and the Pats at the same time. Shoddy no calls on Vollmer all day, not getting set like every team, Hogan blocking before that 2 point pass was thrown. With crappy LBer play and two turnovers along with the stuff I said before, just can't win like that. Gotta play smarter heading into Pitt.

Nice job Hoops. Thanks for taking the time to do this. I agree that there is a lot to be encouraged about. We can beat Pitt. One game at a time.

This.

The pathetic level of refereeing in this game set the table for the final score. Not saying it beat us, but it sure as hell didn't help. Would have been much closer if it woulda been called legit. SO MANY missed penalties.

Jordan phillips had a good game

I'm afraid that our LB situation is what it is and that does not bode well. They do not tackle or set the edge in the run game and almost break their own legs biting so hard on play action and totally lose who they are covering or even what area they need to be in. I sound like a broken record but the only thing that has kept this defense afloat all year has been the turnovers. Without them we just give up so many yards and so many minutes off the clock. WE desperately need help on this defense and we truly do have to focus on this unit in the draft and FA. The ability to be so competitive playing defense like this speaks volumes about the coaches and fight in these players. Right now TALENT WISE we are woefully short at LB and Safety

Our defensive health going into the playoffs will be the key. Jenkins and Maxwell would be a huge welcome. Losing both starting safeties has exposed our linebackers even more. We win if we get some breaks on special teams and if our offense puts up big numbers to out-score the other team.

I think the lack of no huddle there was more about the scoreboard...teams for whatever reason and miami looks no different use it to get back in games but once they are in striking distance they work away from it

They use it as a momentum shifter or builder more than anything else...once we got the end of half td and the second half first possession one we were in striking distance at 20 to 14 so i get why you'd play it the way he did

But at the same time this lb corp if it came down to it had the look of a unit that was going to beat us regardless...

Im just hoping gase throws caution to the wind and goes for it these next 2 weeks...but again for me its always call the game the way tbe scoreboard and flow dictates

Underrated move down big need a juice play he inserts jakeem grant as tbe punt returner looking for a spark...it didnt work but i just really like his pulse on the game in game

It was difficult to tell from the TV, it it seemed like the Pats aggressively adjusted to take away the short quick stuff, forcing Moore to check off to runs or other patterns.
You got to give NE credit. They play smart football and adjust on the fly.

Phillips Lippett both played well. We gotta get the wide recievers in it earlier next week.
