Jarvis landry is a slot wr...that is his best fit...as a result miami by running the entire offense thru him needs to play primarily in 11 personnel...its also where miamis best mismatches come from

so whats the problem with that?

miami wants to live in either 11 or 12 personnel in this offense...however in 12 you are essentially making landry a boundary wr where his lack of top end speed scares no one if hes on the field...12 helps you with some pass protection but it limits your ability to get your bell cow the ball in space and inside the seams where he does his most damage

so again we come back to the bread and butter which is 11 personnel with landry in the slot...11 personnel by definition is 3 wide single back single tight end if you add in the qb and the oline that makes for a 5 or 6 man on the los protection depending on if the tight end stays in or is released or if he lines up flexed or split etc

the issue here with the landry again primary slot and gameplan heavy emphasis is that you are constantly putting your offense in either 5 or 6 man protects on the los with an oline that is very suspect in pass pro...couple in the fact that you are averaging in 2015 3rd and 8 plus (primarily a function of the by design short passing game and the olines inability to create in the running game or protect for that matter and the schemes lack of check out options for the qb not to mention the situational tendencies) and that said slot is a mid 4.6 guy and you got yourself one massive recipe for disaster

sure the production is solid 100 plus catches but the ypc tell the offensive emphasis story and its not a good one

so is jarvis being the emphasis the real problem or is it something else...plenty of teams eat and eat well in 11 personnel who have a high end slot wr...plenty of teams can survive in 5 man protects and releasing or keeping the tight end in...so why can't miami?

in order for jarvis landrys production to be a true positive thing and not a waste frankly miami must be able to protect the qb from 5 man protections and able to attack the seams with the tight end...jordan cameron was suppose to be here to attack seams and split safeties...thats where his value lies...miami cant do much of that because miami cant trust the protection or the oline period in any phase and is living in a 3rd and 8 plus sub package from the opposition world...

and people wonder why this teams 3rd down conversion rate is so poor and we struggle in the red zone...personnel wise it all starts with the oline

Jarvis landry is a terrific player...he will be an even more valuable one when we can eat in an 11 personnel world

But but....top qb's learn to adapt and and Tom Brady has had an online carousel all year and does just fine?

In before the ESPN posters posts this drivel....

..and even with the TE blocking help we still can't protect half the time, what a waste of Cameron- had such high expectations of what it could have been if used properly instead of having to block so much, but were good at minimizing the effectiveness of players strengths.

The whole team "isn't a good thing".

I just hope we don't let Jarvis waste away here the way we did Cam Wake.

Thats why i would hesitate to let cameron go this offseason...with a better scheme and better all around play from the oline he could provide us with exactly what we need down the seams in 11 and in 12 assuming we can make teams respect the run which again starts in the trenches he could give us some mismatches to exploit when teams try to match personnel

Right now we are getting none of that...and i say all this with cameron my to date most dissappointing player on the offense...thats been for me though more about lack of physicality in his routes and drops than anything else...

We start running more vertical seams from a position of where we are dictating in 11 or 12 and i think youd see the more consistent production and play making

But again it requires the oline play a lot better period

Looking around the league, teams with suspect line work around the 5 not-quite-ready o-linemen by using 6 or even 7 o-linemen often splitting the TE out into the WR position and putting a reserve O-lineman at the TE position. The Bronco's, Chiefs, and Redskins all did this with success.

Lazarfail and now Taylorfail, have failed this team the teams they were hired to coached and develop....it quite disgusting that Ross allowed this udder bulls*t to happen.

Cheering Jarvis Landry as the offensive centerpiece is like cheering R Jones as the centerpiece of the defense......really f'n stupid.

Andy Dalton has taken his team to the playoffs and Tannehill hasn't, therefore the offensive line issues are way overstated. Or something.

But seriously, yeah, it's amazing how we managed to achieve a perfect synergy between personnel shortcomings and an unbelievably lame scheme that has rendered this offense completely impotent.

My biggest frustration with how we use Jarvis Landry is the short passes behind the line of scrimmage. He can do more than that, and if we really want to get him the ball and just let him create something, run the damn jet sweep. It's a less risky play than the quick throw to the boundary that everyone knows is coming, and it actually gives him some blockers.

One option would have been to have a blocking TE, like a Fasano. For next year, who knows? We have Pouncey and 4 question marks of different degrees.

Implying that Pouncey isn't a question mark.

The best thing for a good wide receiver is another good wide receiver
