From what I seen it looks like flashback of last year. With the firsts in no where to run between the tackles. WTF with all the upgrades??

Game 1, no rg idenified, so the gelling isn't there yet..give it time..

A lot of running yards came on wildcat plays last year, and we didn't see that with our starters in this game.

Murphy was horrible. Their D is also really good against the run.

I agree. People were telling me how "good the Jags" defense was, but to me that was "homerism." I expected better running between the tackles with the 1st string and I didn't see it.

They have a new center making the line calls, and a right guard spot up in the air. It will take some time for the whole unit to gel. They will though.

I noticed the same thing. we talked about it, something was said that the Jags strenght was up the middle on Defense.
It was clear to me The 0 line was winging it. They had it together at first, then started to get a bit sloppy. The pass rush O line looked good.. which told me they havent worked much on blocking scheme. they players are good, just havent gotten it together yet
Running up the middle isnt easy when they load up in the middle.

perhaps john henderson had something to with it? no one inside could handle him, add in a green line in terms of playing together and you get what we saw tonight

They need a little time and REAL contact to learn how to play together and get used to the other players tendencies and strengths. And hand it to the Jags, their rooks are youngs are stepping up pretty well, they have pretty stout D-Line. DeGuglielmo will have them firing on all cylinders before opening day.

our line is not playing as a unit yet. that'll come with time. the talent is definitely there. you could see that in pass pro. Pennington and Henne had no pressure to speak of.

Gelling doesn't have to be there to knock a DL off of the line once in a while, at least to me it implies a level of consistency. I was expecting more in terms of occasional dominance, we'll see what happens next week.

I expect our line to become a pretty good line but I do think people really have overrated players like Jake Grove who has not proven to be a stud in his nfl career up to this point. We have one stud on our oline and thats Long. Carey is good, Smiley and Grove injury prone and who knows at the other guard.

I would be a little worried if we can't run the ball against a pourous Panther D Line that has no true Defensive Tackle. But I liked what I seen for a first preseason game. We had some direction out there and came away with no serious injuries. I'm cool with what I seen.
