I am not one to complain about ref's, but I have to comment on this game. I can tell you without question that these officials should be reprimanded for their terrible calls, particularly in the secondary against Miami, mainly because I was watching this game as a Dolphins fan who has quit caring about winning, but just want to see some players develop for next year. This group of officials single-handedly kept this game from being 33-7 or even worse. I didn't really start to care about getting a win until I realized how bad we were getting hosed on those calls. The one that really infuriated me was the one where the ref threw the flag about 10 seconds after the play was over, after hearing the fans boo, etc. What a spineless jerk. A series or two later there was a play where Gus tried to hit Chambers on a quick slant for 10 and the DB was draped all over him (on his back side) - no flag. I'm glad they won, I'm glad to see some of the younger guys get some big plays, especially on defense, but I haven't been that upset about officiating in several years. Very poor.

yup, that slant was BS, did you see Saban??

His head was going to burst!

Does 'hands to the face' give an automatic first down??? I was under the impression it did not?

When are there not some "questioanble calls"? When it comes down to it- it's the interpretation of some 50 year old ref that can't even keep pace with 300+ lb lineman. I think even traylor could beat half the refs in a foot race. The NFL needs to get some youth in their officiating core.

A prime example is the Vasher kick return a few weeks back. 2 refs were at the posts, so there was no back judge. After he passed the LOS there were 3 blatant blocks in the back. But since the refs are slow they often miss calls on these ST plays. That Record should have been called back. And now it's in the books as one of the greatest play ever.

I agree that was uncalled for. That flag should have never been thrown!! :fire:

The pass interference penalty againt bell as inexcusable. Bell did hit the receiver when he didn't have to. The ball was going into the dirt. What's even more concerning is that there were 7 guys dropped back into coverage. The pass should never have gotten to the receiver.

those pass interference calls on bell pissed me off 2... that second one on 3rd and like 30 was really BS, yes he got there early but it wasn't a catchable ball, the dude was down on his knees and bell bumped him from behind as the ball bounced 5 yards in front of both of them... horrible call...

and the first one on bells INT, he was playing the ball and caught it, dude was falling over as bells hand was out so it looked like he pushed him, that was BS too...

and i didn't even see that illegal hands to the face penalty on daniels when madison had the pick... they didn't show the replay, so who knows what happened there

Absolutely.

The two calls on Bell were very questionable, with one taking away a turnover. But, the second call on Bell on the 3rd and 28 was about the worst call I've ever seen. Even if the ball was not underthrown, it would have been questionable. But when the ball doesn't even get there on the bounce ... that's just wrong.

Now if you're going to call a game a certain way, you better call it both ways. I've always felt that if the refs are going to be quick with their flags, it better work both ways -- that way both teams get screwed rather than just one. That was not the case on the Chambers slant.

It didn't. That was the problem.

We always look at whether a ball is catchable or not and this typically happens when the ball is overthrown. Well, why can't it happen when the ball is underthrown?

And ... why was pass interference called instead of holding? If the ref thought that the player could have gotten back to the ball (it's the only thing that I can think of why he would even throw a flag), then why is it pass interference and not holding? The result would still have been a first down, but holding is 5-yards, not a spot foul.

"I've never seen anything called like that in my life," Saban said. "I can't say whether it was interference, or whether it wasn't because I didn't see the play, but I know it wasn't a catchable ball."

There was roughly a minute left in the quarter when the play occurred, but Saban didn't stop yelling at the officials until after the fourth quarter had started.

Collins TD

Remember the TD Collins scored by running. He started his slide on the 2 yard line and slid into the end zone. Aren't Refs supposed to mark the ball from the beginning of the slide? I believe that is the rule!

the calls this game weren't alot diffrent than any other game we've played this year or any game in the nfl for that matter. you can call something in the nfl on every down. i just wonder how the refs decide when to call something and when not to. that's what seems questionable to me. it appears that the nfl is looking for as much parity as possible, and if they can keep a game close, thus keep more people watching, they want the calls made that will do that.

Is anybody really surprised by the lame calls? My brother and I called the interference call on 3rd and 28 or whatever it was before it even happened. As a Dolphins fan, I have come to expect these things for whatever reason. Three interceptions taken away by penalties? Even the commentators questioned some of the calls. Why does this keep happening to us? Anyone have an explanation? All I want at this point is to relax and watch the Dolphins develop a little at this point in the season. Instead, we get reamed by the refs and I end up as intense and pissed as if this game was for the division in New England.

Only if the QB slides feet first...

The Bell PI call was beyond terrible. Talk about giving them momentum right after we scored. Thank the lord we pulled it out yesterday
