ESPN polled AFC east beat writers to see who is on the biggest hot seat in the division. The most telling thing is ESPN doesn’t employ a Dolphin beat writer, as this is the 2nd article I have seen from them that only has a voice for the Jets, Bills, and Pats. The Jets writer said Ryan Tannehill is on the biggest hot seat going in 2018, and the Bills writer thinks Mike Tannebaum.

I agree with both picks, but I think Mike’s seat is hotter. I think Ross showed his discontent with football moves when interjected him self in the draft room, and went public with it. The Suh contract was devastating as it’s the biggest dead money cut in the history of the NFL. It also doesn’t take a genius to figure out every trade and free agent signing since Mike has taken over has been an utter failure. I do think Ryan’s seat is hot I can envision a scenario where Miami doesn’t make the playoffs and Ryan is still our starter. I can’t envision that scenario for Mike. What does everyone else think?

People still read ESPN articles? They are second worst to only CBS Sportsline in their writing. :)

I think that RT gets at least another year as Gase gets his preferred personnel in place and they build some chemistry. But I think that the year RT missed will actually do him some good - he did not take the beating that he would have and he is now (reportedly) healthy and ready for the season. As he builds chemistry with the new WR's and RB's, I can see some good things for 2018, although we may only see an 8-8 season. The team needs to avoid starting slow offensively so the defense can not be put in a position where the opponent is going to exploit the run defense and dink and dunks to a TE.

For the first time in a few years, I am optimistic going into the season. They made some good draft choices and free agent signings while unloading a couple of players that seemed to have an issue with putting the team first and wanting to freelance on the field. We will see if it plays out.

Ross interjecting himself has me scared for this team. Jerry Jones-ish move without any former knowledge about football.

While I dislike Mike T I thought that story about Ross doing that was from an Onion sports article.
If Ross doesn't like how Mike is handling the team, fire him, don't start injecting your opinion on draft day. I really doubt Ross went over hours and hours of tape/interviews to make such a suggestion to trade down.

Mike T > Tannehill for the hotseat. AINEC.

RT and Gase are going to make all this nonsense go away. Not only will they not be on the hot seat, but i truly feel that we are getting ready to see a sean payton/drew brees type thing happen in s florida. Gase's outlook, attitude and mindset are COMPLETELY different and i see a man on a mission who will NOT compromise anything in order make this the team he wants.

You will see more discipline from the players, the playbook will open up, tempo will finally actually change and players will know their assignments (or they'll be on the sidelines). I can't say it will play out to 13 wins..... but we are going to see a different Miami Dolphins this year that is going to set the tone for the AFCE leader by next year, if not this.

Yea clearly it’s Tannenbaum.

First things first, Ryan just restructured his contract . . . that pretty much secures him for the next 2 years.

Tannenbaum neglected to secure any real fallback plan at QB since he has been here. If anything happens with Ryan that causes poor play at the QB position and a losing record . . . Tannenbaum needs to be held accountable.

Really him and Gase, while Grier probably gets axed as well, I firmly believe he has no pull in the QB say with the other 2 in the room. I think Grier is a pretty damn good team builder and we have seen our depth improve tremendously since they let him fully run personnel (outside of the Gase personnel choices which have largely backfired for the most part).

I said it before and I will say it again, T-Dumb is the biggest detriment to the team since he has been with organization. Thank God, they let Grier to tell him to sit down and shut up during the draft. I think that was the first sign that his tenure is about to come to an end. This is great news for the team, but I can not believe how long it took them to see that he is a moron.

That is always the hope, but pushing close to 20 years of hearing eerily similar prognostics . . . . Having that air of confidence is not in the cards for me.

Doesn’t mean I am a Debbie Downer, just being realistic with plenty of history to back my feelings up.

We’ll see about Gase . . . .all the supposed “cancers” are gone and so are HIS personnel acquisitions . . .so maybe he can actually focus on coaching the game instead of subliminally blaming his most productive players for the team underperforming and entering games unprepared.

pretty sure James Walker was our beat writer for them then he quit at the end of the season. figured they would've thought about replacing him by now. and Todd Bowles drafted a rookie QB so if he might have bought himself a little more time

Actually think that could be more incentive to cut bait for them. Darnold is not expected to start and a poor season combined with the inability to see him on the field or him struggling could lead to them finding an offensive coach or a new coach who can bring in a top level OC to get the the most out of their future at the position.

Bowles gets one shot IMO.

This would be nice...

But, if they stink up the joint again, then I want Ross to do what he should have done years ago... CLEAN HOUSE COMPLETELY! Front Office, coaching staff, everyone must go. And next time, find a Head Coach who knows what he's doing! I'm tired of seeing inexperienced, unproven wannabes running this team. I'm tired of watching this team fall behind almost immediately nearly every game because the style of offense run by both Philbin and Gase has resulted in slow starts and not being able to score until nearly half-time. I'm tired of seeing ex-Bengals coaches running a defense built to play with a lead when they rarely have a lead!

When have they stunk up the joint? The only season the two of them have been together we went to the playoffs for the first time in a thousand years.

I don't disagree with the premise that if this team falls flat again as it has for 2 decades then you have to look at serious changes. I just don't see that happening.

good call, kind of like sean mcvay out in LA for Goff, why waste the "amazing" sam darnolds all world talent on a D minded coach, Actually McVay must be pretty smart, I was checking to see who is OC was since if their O is great again he'll prob get poached. after his OC was plucked this year, he didn't name a new one, he just has a run game coordinator and a pass game coordinator. maybe that'll will slow people from raiding as bad in the future....unless you just lose both

Ross interjecting himself from what I understand was to get the troops to think outside the box, do something different like acquiring additional draft picks, in other words....if we continue to do the same things we will get the same results. This doesn't speak well for Tannenbaum IMO.
