First off there is only been one person IMO that could turn water into wine.
- His name his not Hudson Houck

With that being said, the idea that we can draft one 4th or 5th rounder each year and develop them into some type of star is crazy. Im not saying impossible but come on guys we need some help.

It is sad to see all the talent we have at the skill positions look mediocre because the line flat out sucks.

My opinion of every lineman is that they are fat, slow, and lazy. Vernon Carey isn't much better if any than Todd Wade, Jeno James is average, Hadnot is no better than Ruddy, Shelton got kicked off the Browns, and RG is a whole other paragraph.

I give props to Daunte for being willing to take the ball from center behing those bums. That is courageous.

Of the 15 sacks less that 5 are the fault of the OL. Close to half is the QB not being in the right protection, and the rest is because the QB is trying to go into the 2nd and 3rd reads vs a blitz.
The OL has not had a good start in the run game but the pass protection is the best it has been since the Marino days.
I don't care if you have the best OL in football blocking against a hgh school front four, the QB can't hold the ball 5 and 6 seconds vs a blitz. It will equal a sack every time if the QB is no more mobil than C-pep is right now.

i couldn't agree more! we spend a bunch of money on an aging d-lineman(kevin carter) last year and we draft a safety in the middle of the first round this year. that's all good and dandy but how can coach after coach keep ignoring the o-line?? it boggles my mind that the big catch in the offseason was lj shelton, a guy that the browns didn't want. well why should i even complain, our offense and offensive line have been mediocre to awful for around 12 straight years now!

The line has not looked as good as it should, but they are also not that horrible.

you are absolutly right. this is still our worse area. we should have drafted more o-line. this line seams to have no muscle just big, fat and lazy players. look at what Denvers line does and they are much smaller than ours.

:fatman: :fatman: :fatman: :fatman: :fatman:

they are using a different scheme than what they used last year with the o-line...why they changed it, i dont know

Dude I have been watching this team since the double overtime win over the chiefs in the early 70s, so I have seen alot of games. Yesterday for the first time, I got bored watching this team struggle against a very poor team.
damn right bad football.
I have this upcoming weekend circled on my calander to drive the 3 hours to watch the fins in person, now I dont even want to go watch them perhaps lose or scrap out an ugly win.
What bothers me is I thought we would have some continiuty on the line this year, some returning players who played decent last year. I dont understand, and I hope Daunte doesnt get hurt again. Im a fan for life, but I envisioned a 10-6 season this year with a wildcard berth, offensive line is gota change before we ever get 10 wins out of the season. IM just being a realist.

You are absolutely right. The offensive line is the foundation on which both the run and the pass are built. You're seeing the result now.

Getting a pro bowl quarterback with this line was like building a house on muck. This idea of not "wasting" high draft picks on stud offensive linemen has been team policy since JJ. It's bad policy. You can have the best O-line coach in the world and it will make no difference if the ability isn't there in the players. No one ever thought enough of any of these people (except Vernon, and that was another stellar Wanny-Spielman personnel decision) to draft them high. There were reasons for that.

Our neglect of the offensive line for many years has come home to roost.

Ya, I am tired of management taking on projects for the o-line, instead of higher quality linemen. That needs to change.

Naaa, that's not right. Daunte gets sacked in less that 3 seconds almost every time. It's hilarious to watch Peyton Manning throw tds because he has like 5 seconds to just stand there and make a decision while running in place. Daunte is constantly moving around and dodging defenders that just deeked LJ Shelton out of his cinderblock shoes. That said, we need to draft a 1st or 2nd round Olineman

All I know is I saw McMichael yesterday looking around as he completely missed a block and let a defender free to Culpepper. Darian Barnes has also been putrid, the guy has zero focus and always seems to be looking the wrong way.

I'm not sticking up for the O-Line, but the backs and tight ends have been doing an awful job in my opinion.

Well, when have we had a shot at any good o-linemen in the draft though? Its not like we have passed up on guys like D-Brick. There havent been alot of good linemen in the draft lately...

RT V. Carey was getting schooled yesterday, and the rest of the OL looked no better than they did a weeks ago. Culpepper is indeed holding the ball too long at times, but the protection is down right terrible, and that's compounding the issue on offense.....

PHINZ RULE!!!
