The Ricky rumors are quite interesting indeed. IM a BELIEVER in Houck and what he can do with an offensive line and also a BELIEVER in Lienhen who proved his offense can be a power-house with RB'S just a tad above AVG and without Randy Moss.
Houck has more than proved himself everywhere he has went and had a Mediocore Sandiego O line playing WELL over their heads last season. Now this Ricky Thing? Well it's pretty god damn interesting if you think about it.
What can these 2 coaches do with -> Ronnie Brown, Ricky Williams and lets not forget Lamar Gordon who can play. If this happens and Williams comes back, I don't know how to view his year off from the NFL. If you think about it, its a whole season where his body doesn't take hits and has time to HEAL.
It also PUTS the STRONG HEADED Williams in the SAME EXACT situation he was in when he first came here from NO'S, actually he will have more to PROVE.
Its always better to be under-weight than overweight. IM sure Ricky can put on 10 lbs pretty fast and get up to 220 or so. He would probably be FASTER at that weight and he wouldn't need the extra 12 LBS or so, because he wouldn't be slamming into a WALL OF DEFENDERS 35 times a game under the new offense and with Ronnie Brown there.
And IM one of the guys who was excited about getting Lamar Gordon from the RAMS. I have direct tv and got to see him play quite a few times and was impressed with his speed, hands and toughness. Yes he has the injury bug and true he might not be an every down back, but he is a SWEET A$$ Compliment as a backup and better than Travis Minor.
I also really like Sammy Morris who we could keep as a second Full-Back. Lets face it , having Morris and Brown both out there at the same time is an advantage. Both have terrific hands and Morris has that surprising second gear. Was anyone else surprised with Morris second gear and his ability to run and catch? I sure was.
If we know anything about Ricky Williams, its that he LOVES to prove critics wrong and I think he will play VERY HARD if he comes back this year and will do his best to keep Ronnie Brown on the bench.
Lets think about this Finatics. Williams will only push Brown to use all of his skills and become a better Football player, FASTER! Brown in turn will push Williams to prove to everyone he is still Ricky Williams a very talented Running Back who led the league in rushing only a short 3 years ago without the kind of O line that the Ravens had in 2003 when Lewis did it, or last year when the 90 year old Martin did it.
Ricky is only how old 27? And has had a COMPLETE season off, so in Football years he is still 26! Sure he will have some rust on him, but IM pretty sure after a few camps ( Where he works hard) he will shake the rust off and be running the ball with speed and power all over again, looking at Ronnie Brown on the sidelines.
With a revamped O line, a new offensive strategy a Brown - Williams - Gordon - Morris backfield, may be the most dominate in the NFL. :cooldude:
I say let him back! I think with this schedule we have, we could win 11 games with this kind of talent!
