I was listening to 790 on the way home and Lebatard said that Shefter was reporting that the Texans were going to draft Teddy Ginn if we had passed on him. Can anyone verify this? If this is true, so much for all the "we took him too early" and "we could have traded down and still gotten him" talk.

Right after our pick, someone (not me) on this board said lost in the shuffle was Schefter saying Houston was trying to trade down because we took Ginn.

That is exactly what I heard during the draft just after Miami selected Ginn. They said Houston wanted Ginn for certain. Also, St. Louis at #12 would have probably taken Ginn too. We got him and that is fine with me. Screw Kiper and his little blow up doll mouth.

If not for the Ankle injuy Ginn would have been a Top 5 player...And everyone would have been calling him the next Steve Smith...Which I think he has the potential to be...

yep, we couldn't trade down. houston wanted ginn on the sneak tip and st. louis made it no secret that they were enamored w/ ginn. there was no player on the board whose value matched up w/ our need, and ya gotta go w/ a playmaker in that case.

When I watch the play with Ginn versus the DB Ross from Texas, the way he outmaneuvered the press and dipped to the outside reminds me so much of Steve Smith. Once Ginn got parallel to Ross on the outside it was all over, talking bout seperation, that was seperation, and from a corner with 4.4 range speed.

Any problems he has with press coverage can be minimized by putting him in motion or having him line up in the backfield. That's called coaching and offensive minded creativity, which we have now.

interesting ! i missed that as well....... i was too busy on the phone telling people why passing on quinn for Ginn isn't as insane as the Quinn lovers thought. Anyone not on the brady bandwagon knew they thought this was a very deep draft for QBs and had TWO 2nds.

It was reported by Adam Schefter on the NFL Network right after Miami picked Ted Ginn that the texans were trying to trade down out of #10 because their target (Ted Ginn) was gone. Houston had no buyers. The argument that he was a reach is ridiculous.. According to atleast one scouting department (Houston), Ted Ginn was value at that spot, which holds more water than Mayock or Kiper.

so true. the way i see it, the draft had three bonafide gamebreakers: calvin johnson, adrian peterson and ted ginn. players that can change the game any time they are on the field. cam and randy wanted to get one of them for us. we haven't had a threat like this since ever.

man i hate mel kiper ..... interesting news.... there goes all that talk about taking him to early out the window.

did't houston take that DE over that RB last year.....that don't make me feel better......but I do hope he is the next steve smith.

i thought he was a reach but now with this news i love it.....i wanted teddy ginn if quinn wasnt there but am loving it more and moe....ive always been high on beck
