Interesting commentary about our TE's, and one quite frankly I hadn't given much thought to. I've been more concern about the secondary. Even with RB the only sure fire runner, I had a lot of faith in Morris as his backup. But our TE situation didn't really catch my attention until this article. I don't know much about our backup's since they've all been backups their whole careers. But this is interesting, what do you guys think?

Justin Peele is a really good blocker, and Teyo Johnson is a good receiver(altho he may be cut)

Not terribly worried, we may be semi shallow in backups @ this position, but just how many areas can Saban & co. fix in only 2 offseasons? One thing for certain; if Saban or Mularky were as worried, they would have addressed this I'm sure.

I think the person that responded at the bottom of the page summed it up pretty well.

Not terribily concerned about this, cause if mcmike goes does we have a few options 1. we got ronnie out of the back field who is an excelent reciever we would see his receptions go up, 2. run more 3WR sets with either welker or Hagans, plus with Linehans offense that was left behind it was more or a down the field offense so the 3 wr would do well in my opinion in going down the field and spreading out the field, plus with murlakys pension for trick plays the 3 wr set would be a good thing, now im not saying it would be perfect and i DEFINITLY dont want to see mcmike go down but i think we would be fine

That sounds about right.

Justin Peele is a decent backup TE. This was found at Dr Football for their 2005 AFC West Preview.
Back-up JUSTIN PEELE doesn’t see many balls his way but he is also a solid route runner who has reliable hands and can separate underneath. He is also a solid blocker who gets good position, takes good angles and finishes.

I don't know much about Teyo except he apprears to be more of a H-Back than a pure TE.

The Sporting News 2005 Preview rated Justin Peele in the top 25 tight ends in the NFL. They said he could start for some teams and was a very good blocker and an underrated receiver. I'm not concerned about depth at tight end at all.

Peele impressed me at the mini-camp. He made some nice catches and got downfield pretty fast.

Not worried at all :)

This is what I want to hear, but we have real idea about him in games situations, and in pads..everybody looks good in pants and shirts..

I actually think that TE is a position where we have already have good depth - Justin Pelle was a very good addition in free agency.
