Listen do not draft troy smith that would be stupid we are set @ running back and quarterback, cleo lemon will be starting sunday and we'll see how he does but We need a #1 reciever cause chambers is still not a number 1 and dwayne jarett is a hell of a reciever also calvin johnson but our offensive line is inconsistant so we need to add o line and some more secondary help so draft a Shutdown corneror address that position with clements coming out of buffalo due to free agency. Also add another LB.

Key Position in need
Offensive line
Shutdown corner
#1 Reciever
LB
If we fill these positions I truly believe we will do good next season

This draft ought to be interesting. IMO our top need in large part depends on who our starting QB is going to be. If Daunte starts then our #1 need will be OL (LT in particular), but if Joey or a QB able to get rid of the ball faster the Daunte starts then our #1 need becomes a legitimate #1 WR...Johnson will probably be long gone, but Jarett could possibly fill that need.

If we lose this sunday I heard potentially we will have the 5th pick overall or 6th

The best we could do is tie for 5th if the Texans, Cardinals and Redskins win and we lose. Then "strength of schedule" comes into play and unfortunately we have a strong sos at this point. Of course, that would also change if every team we played this year looses this weekend. We could conceivably pick at #17 as well. There is a lot that has to go our way in order to get the 5th or 6th. According to most draft guru's right now the following players are projected to go right away.

Brady Quinn
Calvin Johnson
Gaines Adams
Joe Thomas
Adrian Peterson

Of course, the combine and team needs always come in to play.

With the strength of schedule, we probably won't fall lower than 8th. Jarrett is a good receiver but we need someone who's more explosive than he is. We already have a few possession receivers on the roster and Jarrett would just be one more.

Why Jarrett, when you can have Jeff Samardzija of ND? JS is slightly faster (4.50 vs 4.57 is what I found), the same size, and better hands. Not that it's too relevant, but JS is an amazing athlete all-around, pitching for ND's baseball team with an 8-2 record last year. Not to mention, his nickname is "Shark"... yeah baby, a shark on the 'Fins.

Nah, hes a mid to late first. Honestly, of all the 1st rounders we can get at WR (we wont have a shot at CJ) we should get Ted Ginn. I like Jarret, but we really need a burner on the outside at WR and that is Ginns specialty. hes a little raw, but hes shown improvement and coachability, and runs a pretty decent clean route, and has good hands. I just think he would complement our offense better than Jarret or JS.

That said I think we go QB, Lemon is not starting next year, hes a career backup, a good one, but a backup. We need a bonafide star at QB.

Isn't that why we drafted Randall "Thrill" Hill and Yatil Green in the first round? Burners on the outside who were a little raw? Frankly, that's the last thing I want... we need guys with hands like suction cups.

Dont remember Randall Hill, but Green was a misfortune of injuries, his play had NOTHING to do with his short career. Not much you can do when your knee is made of putty. So counting Hill, one bust should not equate to us never taking another speedy WR again.

We need some speed to open up this offense a little. Ginn doesnt have a bad pair of hands either anyway.

At our spot should the key Juniors declare and Joe Thomas is gone, I would take Ugoh, Russel or Brohm. If we got one of these guys, I'd be pretty psyched! Also, we should push for Asante Samuel via FA.

As for the WR fanatics Ginn would fit better here than Calvin Johnson even though Johnson is an athletic phenomenon.

Ummm....how would Ginn, Jr fit better than Johnson? Johnson is a more polished receiver, with better hands and is over 6'4".

Johnson would be best, because he is better, but we wont get him tbh. Of those after him, Ginn would be best because of his speed. We just need more team speed.

That said id still rather take a QB, preferably Smith or Brohm, no thanks on russell

In a word...speed. We don't have that. You know what I'm not going to get into an argument about Calvin Johnson because he does have a lot of skill and he is huge for a WR (probably an excellent run blocker and should always win the ball on a fade route). To be honest he would be a solid reciever wherever he goes. We would have to shuffle around personnel to make him fit here though.

Argument? Just a simple discussion about two players. One 6' 180 who runs a 4.3 or better 40 and another who is 6'4" 230 runs a 4.35 40 with a 45" vertical jump.
