How come we don't see trades more often in the NFL?

Because teams would rather use that draft pick on a cheaper, younger player with more upside. The player to be traded has film that shows every flaw and weakness. The draft pick has only college film and the front offices feel they can mold a pick.

Traded player: known commodity without upside
Draft pick: unknown commodity with potential

It's as simple as that.
