How could we not get something for McMichael?

I don't want to complain because mueller is doing a great job but how could we have not gotten at least a 6th or even a 7th for him?
 
I read in the Herald they couldn't even get a 7th rd pick for him. Teams weren't willing to give up anything.
 
I think the main problem was teams knew we would cut him regardles.. Why give something up if you can get the guy for free?
 
they had to cut him so they wouldn't have to pay him his roster bonus. And the other teams knew that.

Because no one wanted to give up a 6th or 7th for him :(
 
That combined with the fact that he's a big underachiever who's a wife beating loudmouth and it was a no brainer.
 
i think we should have staid with him he was good i think is hadr to get another TE like him when team love TE now a days
 
because they knew we would cut him because we had to pay him the roster bonus at the end of the year

If you were going to sign a tight end and another team was shopping a good tight end Um well let me try and explain it this way. Lets say the giants contact you and say hey we'd like to give you Jeremy shockey for a 3rd round choice. what do you say to them if you know that in a couple days they are gonna release him anyway? no ofcourse then you sign him when they release him!:D
 
Disappointed in how we handled McMichael situation

I say this because Scott Linehan openly admits they were looking at trading for McMike. Clearly he'd contacted or spoke with the 'Fins about a trade... why not a 5th rounder instead of nothing?

To my understanding McMike wasn't due a roster bonus for a while longer (a few days at least, from when we released him). So, we had some time to be at least a liiiitle patient and create that value in McMike... even if the value was a simple 7th rounder! The Rams would've given us SOMEthing. Even though I think Mueller and Cam have been doing a great job so far, I believe they missed it on the Randy McMichael situation. McMike had some value to this team... even if that didn't correlate to value on the field, but instead a value in our future.
