How do we fix this defense in the off-season?

I feel like we have holes in the secondary, d-line, and with our linebackers. Basically every aspect of the defense has had it's issues through out the entirety of the season.

What are the most glaring defensive needs and how do you suggest we fill them?

My first suggestion: Get rid of Coyle.
 
A NT and a stud MLB would be a great start

like all old farts I dream of Duhe/Baumhower draft but where we get a bigger Zach Thomas and a young Vince Wilfork

Good question, because I think the like is going to get worse. I don't think they bring back Starks, who I really think is our best interior lineman.

Odrick does not play in control and cannot take on double teams at all. Mitchell can maintain position north and south, but gets moved laterally too easily and allows for big holes.
 
perhaps a defensive genius could make Jordan a weapon?

Jordan/Jenkins and a kickass MLB? not too shabby
 
wish Scooby wright was coming out this year. we need to get a true MLB. and sure up a good dt and cb and safety. We need to see how the delmas situation pans out. would love rex as our dc

That Odrick picks continues to haunt us. We missed out on so much talent by taking him.
 
Jettison Starks, Ellerbe, Odrick and sign Suh. Then draft LB,CB with 1st 2 picks in the draft.
I think defense needs much more work than the offense. On offense the #2WR position needs upgrading as does one of the G positions (assuming Billy Turner develops into a starter).

yep and he is killing us..did u see him getting stood up almost all day long. He sucks and Starks is done. We need 4 dLinemen and 2 LBers thats all FCK US!!!
 
I don't think there'll be a change at DC. This team needs a playmaker at LB. A guy that can rush the passer but isn't a liability in pass coverage. They need someone like Clay Matthews. All things being equal, that's where I'd look with the first draft pick.

The only way I'd deviate from that is if there is a dominant DT that falls to our pick and who is much better than any of the LBs fitting the profile I listed above. At worst, the Dolphins need someone that can plug up the middle against the run.

They need a CB and a S who can complete for a starting position and depth all over the back seven.
 
I feel like the D needs to be conditioned better. All these late game collapses speak to a lack of physical conditioning in my mind. Get a new coach to get these guys in better shape.
 
D-line needs help, LB's are a priority and CB and potentially Safety to replace Delmas.

Lot of needs on defense. Going to have to be smart about FA's and the draft to make this work.
