With the advent of RT17s injury we've seen the looney Matt Moore should start advocates come from under their troll bridges. This made me curious how you all felt about our previous long term starters after Marino, jay Fiedler, Chad henne, Chad Pennington, Matt Moore, and rt17. I'll start as an example;

jay fiedler: pure trash. Cost us multiple playoff berths and possible championships with his ineptitude that was foster by horrible coaching. Minimal arm talent and a king of the pick 6. 2/10

chad henne: I viewed him as a poor mans joe flacco, the difference between a first and second rd pick. Big arm and could have been serviceable had the coaching not been horrible. The type of guy you keep looking for the "next Qb" even if you're muddling along at 8-8 or 9-7 every year. The wildcat killed his development. 4/10

chad Pennington: straight up gamer. Smart AF but so limited in arm talent that any decent team destroys him, see Ravens playoff game. Great as a stop gap QB. Prob an 8/10 prior to injuries but 6/10 when he was with us.

Matt Moore: career back up for a reason. He's never going to carry a team, average arm talent, slightly above average mobility. He's a gamer sometimes and a total walking turnover others. Never going to be the lead sled dog because it seems he enjoys sniffing butts, i.e. Being a clipboard holder. Higher than henne only because he's never really been "the guy". The ultimate back up, 5/10.

Rt17: first round "project" qb. Has all the arm talent in the world, extremely mobile but his development was slowed by horrible coaching and multiple OC idiots and changes. Gase finally has us on the right track and a multitude of his detractors complaints have been answered such as the deep ball and the magical "pocket presence". A light came on about mid season, the approximate amount of time it takes to feel good w a new system. 7.5/10 with the potential to be the franchise, top 10 NFL qb.

I couldn't read much past Jay Fiedler, pure trash.

His limitations were obvious but he played well within himself. Considering we've had actual trash at times at QB, he shouldn't receive that label.

Henne was pure trash.

Gus Frerotte deserves a mention. He wasn't a great player, but he was a good quarterback for us for one year.

Better than Daunte Culpepper.

One 3,000 yard season and a near 1:1 int ratio, many of which were pick 6s that ruined games. Wasted an all time great D and ridiculous seasons from Ricky Williams. Pure trash.

The point wasn't for you to agree, it was to give your opinion on Moore and tannehill in reference to how you felt about previous QBs

I disagree. Henne was a rookie when he came in. He had poor coaching, less talent around him and a super poor offensive system. Good coaches have done more with less talent.

Fiedler came in as a veteran and squandered elite supporting talent. Our line was killer, our D was epic and we had an 1800 yard rusher and missed the playoffs. Killed the career of of Lamar smith too with that back to back 30 plus carry force feeding in the playoffs because Fiedler was such trash.

In short, henne had unrealized potential and Fiedler was never any good and pathetically peaked as a game manager with a knack for throwing interceptions.

fiedler was better than henne

Jay Fiedler had severe arm talent limitations and also made terrible decisions with the football.

And yet he was still better than Chad Henne, who has conclusively proved that he is bad in Jacksonville.

This is fair, though. Fiedler really did have a lot more to work with.

Speaking of QBs, saw this on twitter:

Ryan in pretty good company.

I liked Linehan with Gus. I thought Linehan got the best out of Gus that year QB coach was Garrett if I recall also.

Nobody is saying henne was a world beater but the potential was there to be a mid level NFL qb had he been better coached, maybe. I mean when you have a year w Colombo as a RT and your head coach decides to take you out on first down to run wildcat then tells you go get em on third and long...really set up for failure.

Fielder was garbage from day 1. His ceiling was a back up but horrible coaching from the stache kept him in he starting roll.

I'm more interested to a see he opinions of pro Fiedler people compared to their opinion of Matt Moore.

Gus had one average year with us. Dante had like 4 miserable games then injury.

Fielder 37 wins 23 losses: Posterboy of the QBWinz argument.

Say what you want about his other stats, but the guy played with heart and won us football games.

Seriously?
Is that thread a follow up to your post
He's bad. Inconsistent and lacks arm talent. He's good for a back up, I think he has one 300 yard game in his career and a near 1:1 int ratio.
