ESPN does a lot of things right. QBR isn't one of them. After yesterday's heroics, Tannehill fell from 26th to 28th???espn.go.com/nfl/qbr

I checked the link (http://espn.go.com/nfl/qbr) and Josh McCown has the highest QBR in the league... Yes, THAT Josh McCown... the one that couldn't beat out a rookie Chad Henne in Miami.

I seems that QBR is based more on very destructive plays like the pick6 and timing. Tanne likely lost points for not converting the TD from first and goal to put the game away on our final drive.

But the majority of those plays were running plays... Why would a QB lose points for that? Do they think the QB is the OC too?

Nobody knows for sure. They have NEVER revealed the full methodology. When they unveiled the QBR system they said they would take questions about the methodology (such as how they calculate 'clutch' factor) at some conference ESPN was going to attend. Well, if you didn't show up, tough ****.

But I do know this, let me give you an example:

Scenario 1: QB throws an interception at the 50 yard line. Opposing team goes 3 and out and punts the ball.
Scenario 2: QB throws an interception and opposing team scores a touchdown because a defensive back slips and falls down.

In scenario 2, the QB takes a much bigger hit to his QBR.

It's a dumb system. I'm pretty sure they use it to hype up Monday night games.

I called the 1-800-QBR rating hotline and I got Shourights secretary. She just took a message...

In the NFL site stats they have his QBR at 84 which is 6th in the AFC behind Manning , Rivers , Big ben , Brady and Dalton.

That's sounds about right to me.

That is the traditional QB Rating... QBR is another thing altogether, concocted by ESPN a few years ago.

i know but the traditional one seems to work fine in this case at least as far as Tannehill. Just outside the top 5 in our conference is where I think he is at this time.

he's closer to 10 than 5 in the AFC

Check your math Junc. How is 6 closer to 10 than 5 ????

Regardless my eyes says he's getting better and so does his TD to int ratio which to me is the best way to grade a QB.
