If you think about how close some of our losses have been this year. Five yards away from a win in Buffalo. Another ball bounce away from a win vs atlanta.

Yet we barely squeak out a win vs the jets. And the browns destroyed us completely.

But we also found a way to take out Denver and Carolina, despite massive amounts of penalties early in the season.

If we somehow could have gotten ten more yards, we'd be tied with New England going into the last game of the season.

Which is why I think this game versus the patriots will let us know who we really are. Are we one QB and a secondary away from superbowl giants?

Or are we just lucky losers who dont have what it truly takes to get to the big game?

So I ask everyone, how good are we really? Was the losses vs the bills, the falcons and browns who we are? Are we a team that will fail when it matters?
Or has the past five games really proven that we can win it with pressure?

Did you forget the buffalo game? we are three plays away from being 10-5... Despite that though, we are 8-7, so that is how good we really are, you can't be any better or worse than your record.

IMO it all works out , we won some maybe we should have lost, we lost some we should have won.

the fins could have easily lost to carolina and one could argue that the denver game was a fluke. the fins also barely beat the jets and bollinger threw for over 300 yards, so it goes both ways

the fins are an average team. there are both playmakers and gaping holes

WELL PUT MY FRIEND :dolphins:

Everyone brought up great points, but I honestly think we are only a few impact players away from being able to win 10 + games next season.

We'll see how good we are next year...everyone should feel more at home next year after playing for Nick this year...our young guys will have a year under their belts and Nick will have another good offseason so on paper will be better next year but we'll have to trasnlate that to the field.

Ozzy rules!!

well i think we will see our future this sunday

we are riding a good win streak and everybody is playing well for the most part...and we will see just how good we can stack up against the elite competition when we are on full cylinder

I honestly believe we are a "middle of the pack" QB from being a possible AFC championship game contender. In other words, top 5 or so in the conference. Oh well, maybe next year we will be in that situation.

This sums it up nicely.....

If our dumb *** OC would have called some runs against ATL on 1st and Goal from the 2 or 3 we would still be in the playoff hunt. Instead we throw and INT in the end zone and lose by 7. There was plenty of time to go to at least attempt a run on a couple of downs.

Well to answer your question, you'd have to look at it the opposite way too. The Pats, Bills, and Falcons just beat us. In fact, the only games we would have had a hard time winning if we'd gotten our **** together was KC and Cleveland.

Keep in mind, that the Phins were adjusting to a lof of different things (Coaching, Game Plan on O and D, new players, new mentality, etc..). I think we are now to the point where we are properly executing Saban's game plan. All the Phins can be is the best they can be. Other teams are playing hard too. Our D can't stop them on every drive. Our O can't score on every drive. Neither can any other team.

Personally, I'd look at this season in two parts. The first 10 games where we were still adjusting ending with the Cleveland Game. And the last five games. There has been a significant turnaround in terms of finishing the game.

Wait till next year!!!! We'll at least make the playoffs. I have no doubt.

To quote Charlie Weis "You are what you are and right now you are a 8-7 football team". Sure we had some crappy losses and some good wins. This team has to be more constient which I think they are starting to become. It should be a good test this weekend.

Don't hang your hopes for improvement on this one game. The Patsies are hot and we all know what happens when that team is hot...We are not significantly better than last year talent-wise, but we are a significantly better coached team and that is what has made the difference between this and last year. These players know that there is a future that includes some wins with this team, whereas last year's team was 'looking for a way to lose'. This offseason will really define Saban. If he infuses as much talent this offseason as he did last year, we could be an exciting team to watch. Whats more, he has some cap space to work with and a more respected organization (from potential FA perspective) to draw better talent. I watched and followed the entire offseason last year very closely but didn't really know exactly what to expect. I was confused by some of Saban's moves (like adding all the DL, even the addition of Frerotte, etc) but he showed me why and what he was trying to accomplish. I still think the Frerotte experiment backfired on him, but that's life. I think I'll look differently at who he adds and who he cuts this year. Plus, the staff won't have to be putting the organization together and setting the ground rules, etc for the players...that's all in place now...they can do what they do best....evaluate talent and coach players...

Good enough to beat the Patriot in Foxboro this weekend. Have faith people. We will turn heads.
