I think most everyone would agree that the 2005 draft was a good and potentially great one for the Miami Dolphins. Brown demonstrated that he was worthy of going #2 overall and has the potential to be a top 5 back in the NFL for years to come. Crowder's playmaking ability makes him the steal of the entire draft in the 3rd round. Daniels overall solid play as a 4th round pick was an unexpected suprise. The one guy that I'm uncertain of is Matt Roth. As a guy who was once considered a 1st round pic and eventually fell to us in the 2nd, I'm expecting big things in the future. Based on what you saw last year, how good can he be?

I was shocked we took him at that spot, I thought maybe a WR, but he will provide good depth and should be good for us here on out!!!

so far i wasn't too impressed...I saw him get ample playing time, and was quite honestly manhandled. Hopefully he improves in his soph year

The good thing about Matt Roth is that he always comes to play. He's a hard worker who will do whatever it takes to improve. While not the prototype DE in a 4-3, with added strength and improved technique he could excel in a 3-4. He is limited in some ways, short arms, not huge, not overwhelmingly powerful, but his motor is always running and he's not afraid to mix it up. I suspect he'll make steady improvement over the course of his career and by his third season he'll be a starter. Probably never a Pro Bowler but close.

from what I've read, he just needs to develop more moves and he'll be fine. In college he excelled at bullrushing and overpowering blockers, at the pro level he just needs more moves

tons of potential, defensive linemen tend to take longer to develop then other positions.

How long did it take JT?

Give him time, he has the work ethic and the nasty attitude and he was a steal in the 2nd when compared to where he was grading out prior to the draft. I think you'll see him improve year after year. Who knows, he could turn out to be great just yet. Remember, he was stuck behind a bunch of probowlers on our line last year. Holliday, Carter, Taylor,Traylor. These are all sold starters for anyone in this league.

Shouldn't Roth excel in a 4-3 defense? Roth is undersized in a 3-4 defense. I think it would be better for Roth if we stay in the 4-3. He should be able to be more effective.
Just my thoughts.

I think the problem with Matt isn't his abilities, but his position...unfortunately for him, unlike the others you mentioned, his position was filled by highly qualified people like Jason Taylor and KC, V Holiday and D Bowens, so it was hard for him to get any real meaningful time to evaluate like the others guys who were starting and got a lot of evaluation time by us.

You saw him get ample playing time??? Really? Where?

He got a little playing time last year, struggled at the start of the year but got much better near the end. Its not enough playing time to make a judgement and it definitely wasn't ample playing time.
