What are their weak spots (if any) that we can exploit?

I read yesterday that the replacement for Jamall Brown is playing lights out. I'm curious as to how Carl Nicks is playing, I wanted him for us 2 years ago, would have been one hell of a 5th rd pick. Their Donald Thomas, one round higher. Dude has size, power and is agile.

As long as we're talking OL here, the acquisition of Lydon Murtha is interesting to me, could be a good pickup. Can play LT or RT, extremely athletic, and now we have him and a mauler like Nate Garner at backup OT.

Unfortunatley, the Saints are scary..I do not see any weak spots in that O-Line. The mighty Giants were unable to generate any kind of pass rush even with the blitzes....

The only thing we can do is run the ball and eat the clock.

I tend to disagree....if you wantched the way the Jets played them....their D totally confused the Saints O-lineman....and one point, they didnt know who to block and ended up triple teaming Jenkins and leaving free runners everywhere....

The key to slowing down Brees is to get the pressure in his face. The Giants kept trying to get him off the edges and he would step up in the pocket and fire....

My hope is that JT and JP can demand enough attention to leave us some mismatches with our D-lineman being one on one....then you've got to bring at least one blitzer right up the gut....AND HE'S GOT TO GET THERE....that's a lot of if's, but I think it's the only chance we have.

I would like to see us moving people around at the LOS more....you're not going to confuse Brees, but maybe we can get their O-lineman confused enough to get a free runner from time to time.

The Saints young tandem of Guards, Nicks and Evans, are perhaps the best in the league right now. Both play nasty and love the running game. And neither has given up a sack yet this year. The LT Bushrod is replacing the Pro Bowler Brown, who is on I/R this season. Bushrod was Kiper's "steal of the 2007 draft" and it's clearly showing. Many believe the Saints will allow Brown to leave via agency next year because of Bushrod's play. The RT Stichcomb is average, but extremely intelligent and that makes up for any lack of ability. Our Center is average. Collectively they play very well.

Looking forward to the Dolphin/Saints game.......Saints by 9 points.

It will be tough to confuse Brees and the O-line when we have Paul Pasqualoni calling the plays on defense.

Brees has been sacked four times in five games, despite facing defenses (Eagles and Jets, in particular) that made pressuring him their top priority. Last season he was sacked 13 times in over six hundred pass attempts, by far the lowest sack rate per attempt in the league.

Part of this is due to Brees himself, who has good feet, excellent pocket awareness and a quick release (not Marino quick, but who does). But the offensive line, a maturing group built from within the draft, is a solid unit that excels in pass protection. It's is very hard to effectively pressure Brees, either up the middle or from the edge.

My question: what happened with Andy Alleman, the guard we took in the third round just ahead of Bushrod? We had high hopes for him. Didn't the Phins pick him up?

Alleman was absolute garbage. We traded him for scraps to KC

should be an interesting matchup While the Saints interior line has been very good, our DL has been pretty good itself. While it may not show in the stats, Merling,Langford, and Starks all get pretty good penetration on the opposing OL. I'm excited to see how they do against NO.

What's up in Washington? I'm just here talking with the Fin Fans and telling it the way I see it. Gonna be another good game this weekend in Miami for sure!

The weak spot is the tackles. The interior line might be tops in the league. They doubled Tuck just about every play against the Giants and always had someone to chip Osi out of the backfield if they didn't double him as well. They use Streif (backup RT) as a TE a lot and run the ball out of this formation, or run play-action with a lot of 2-3 man routes. This wasn't available in the Jets game because Bushrod was hurt, so Streif had to start at LT.

Bills had consistent pressure from their ends, but that was due to selling out the run. They ran three deep just about all game and shut down the passing game. Mike Bell was out and Pierre Thomas didn't play until the second half because of the flu, so it was a good plan. However, Thomas racked up 126 yards and 2 TDs for 9 yards a carry in the second half. Even Bush and Hamilton (4th string RB) had some nice runs.
