I don't get it. How the heck is another piece to the puzzle becomes available and we not pounced on it yet? When Pennington became available, it was a 'piece' of the puzzle. Chad wasn't 'all' we needed, but he filled a need nonetheless.

Yeah, its a few pieces we need, but you fix them one by one as they become available and the opportunity presents itself.

Right now, the opportunity has presented itself for MIA to fill yet another need they need as part of the puzzle...Roy Wiliams.

With Roy Williams, MIA would fill another hole and just moves closer to presenting a playoff contender. The fact that we signed Ernest Wilford this offseason is proof that the big WR is a position that MIA lacked.

Has Wilford payed off? No. Is Roy Williams many times over better than Wilford? Yes. Why hasn't Parcells pulled the trigger yet? Especially with that extra 2nd round pick that he got for JT?

Bringing in Roy Williams would take away a need we would still have to fill come the offseason or the draft. Then, Roy Williams would be more than we have available to us in the draft or FA.

Roy Williams will not be available in the offseason. Why? Because he will then be able to either be franchise tagged...or traded for 'more' than he is going to be able to be had if we grab him before the trading deadline.

I'm sure that we can attain Roy Williams for either a 2nd and a 5th round pick or even 2 2nd round picks(one in 2009 and another in 2010) easy. And he would be well worth it and better than anything we can get in the draft at those spots.

How are you sure? Did you talk to the Lions GM? It takes a lot to make a trade happen. And 2 second round picks is a big asking price.

The Fins aren't the only team with needs. Detroit will be losing a star player and has many holes in their team to fill. They are going to want crazy picks and or players to try and fill them. Whoever is after Williams is going to pay a hefty price. I think we can do better if that is the case.

Perhaps Parcells does not like Roy at all or in contrast to the asking price. Maybe he does but is waiting to see how things play out before pulling the trigger. Hell, maybe he is on the phone with the Lions GM right now negotiating.

Williams is on the block and there has been seemingly no interest. Sounds like the Lions want to much.

As the deadline gets closer, the asking price will drop. I think the NFL knows Detroit wants to make a deal and will wait as long as possible.

If Parcells wants him, he'll go after him. But so will many other teams. Not as easy as saying heres and 2nd and thank you very much.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Roy Williams a free agent at the end of the year??? That means he's going to want a big new contract at the end of the year -- from us or anyone else -- whether we trade for him or not.

So... If we are going to throw big money at him, why not wait until the end of the year and save a high draft pick or two.

Unless you think we need him now so we can win the Super Bowl this year.

Who wants Ricky Williams?

Away from the safety net hes built in Miami?
One puff and hes gone, Williams is my favoriate RB but his history.........

No, after the season, they will have even more leverage as they can always use the franchise tag on him. Also, 2 2nd rounders is not too steep...not for a player like Roy Williams.

I would give them 2 2nd rounders for Roy Williams in a heartbeat. Even a 2010 1st round pick. No doubt, we will be looking for a WR this offseason so might as well get him now so that he can help us 'this' season instead of waiting for next year.
