In my opinion our season opener vs. the Jizz could easily make or break our season. A win could sky rocket confidence not only in the team but in the front office and would mean that we at least tied last year's record for sure! A loss could devastate the team's confidence and start us on a downward spiral of losses and ultimately the end of the world as we know it.

Any thoughts?

I hope that one loss would not destroy this teams confidence. Especially after last season, one loss is nothing!

We are probably going to lose our first game and if our team goes into a downward spiral after this then there are going to be problems.

It's always nice to win your season opener. Especially against a hated rival like the Jets. The Giants lost their season opener in 2007, and look how their season turned out. It's not always how you start, it's how you finish.

oh, it's important. i thought that overtime loss to the skins last year really took some wind out of our sails. after a 1-15 season, we need all the confidence we can get.

not to mention it's against the jets.

pish-posh....the season opener is nothing more, just a season opener. These are professional athlets, and they should know that just because you lose your first game, doesnt mean you wont win your next...

MY PREDICTION:MIA is going 6-10 or 7-9 this season

MIAMI will win their season opener however....JETS SUCK,SUCK SUCK!!!!

It would signal that Sparano means business as a coach. I think season openers mean a whole lot more to rookie HCs then anyone else.

VERY IMPORTANT, I HOPE WE WIN so jets FAN CAN Shut UP until week 17.

If not for a 1-15 season I would say it don't matter and really it still dont because of our youth movement. Winning game 1 after last season this year would be special for us and our players. It would build confidence from week one and take alot of pressure off our team because we would match last years win total with 15 more games left and the hold-overs from last year would gain confidence in what we are doing and play with more pride.

Its a division game so of course its very important. I don't think a loss ruins the season, nor does a win make our season. However, when we win it will be a HUGE confidence builder for this young team.

Every game against those slimy, green SOB's is important.

Exactly my point. Season openers aren't really important normally. However, a season opener loss to the teams most hate division rival can DESTROY A TEAMS CONFIDENCE when that team went 1-15 the year before, has a new GM and Head Coach, has an almost new roster with unproven chemistry, 6 months of off the field drama and +6 starters returning from injury. So like I said THIS season opener is very important! Pish-Posh

Winning the season opener would catapult us into first place in the Division.

Yes it would Op!

The only thing making or breaking our season is our roster and the fact that we still have a ways to go in rebuilding this team.

Winning any game is good for confidence and momentum but it's not going to spur a playoff run IMO.
