How long before they brake our hearts? Or not...

So after a night of full rest and sleep I can say that even though I could have sworn we would have gone another route this weekend, I can honestly see what these guys are trying to do down here (aside from raiding the cowboys roster). I feel a little better about this draft since I'm looking at it with an open mind. We are continuing to build our concrete wall, brick by brick. Not just any brick but heavy duty brick. This isn't a one year job, in fact might be a 3 year job before we can finally see results. That is also fine as long as we do it the right way. But the real question I have to ask myself is how long will be able to enjoy our well cooked steak? This new regime is ****y, arrogant, and very well so intolerant of anything and anyone. How long before they taste success here and move on into bigger and better things. With talks of a brand new team in L.A. looming, how long before BP heads out there and raids us of our solid concrete foundation. Even if Ireland stays behind since I see no reason for him leaving elsewhere unless he becomes V.P. of Operations. Call me a pessimist but I just can't help it think that these guys will move on once they either fail to accomplish what they came for here or accomplish it in one season and decide to move on to better and bigger things. Maybe it's my hang-over speaking but I'm scared to get overlu excited about what's being done here just because we've been let down time and time again. I'll enjoy it today but I refuse to reside my trust in Bill Parcells. I refuse to give my heart to a prostitute. That isn't a knock on BP because I do think he can accomplish bigger and better things (literally) then any of our past regimes.

Parcells will probably retire in 2-3 years so he can focus more on the ponies. Ireland has no reason to leave.

Jeezzz, dude. Relax, will ya? W aren't even into these guys' first training camp..

Parcells let his intentions be known. Draft:

O-line
D-line
Running back

Parcells drafted multiple players at each position just to be certain to hit on at least 1-2 for each position. I don't think there's any doubt we'll be better on both lines of scrimmage next season. I'm pumped up!

It seems to me that all of your posts were more related to hating BP and wanting flashy picks. I do not care about wanting flashy picks, but this forum is better if you discuss the specific topic instead of venting about BP.

I think the reason Parcells has a four year contract is he's only planning on doing this for four more years. I think with stock in the fins and a home in south florida, he'll just retire and let the younger men play the game, now finally had tasted the sweet nectar that is running the front office.

I think Ireland and Sparano stay (if theyre doing well) and try to keep their coordinators from leaving. I'd say Sparano stays because theres no better job than head coach, and Ireland will stay too until he's run out of town. Why be the GM anywhere else when you've got a good winning team (presumably) here.

But by that point, BP will have taught Ireland AND Sparano to be just like him. So there wont be that much of a loss.

B.P has more money and its not like he has to feed his family . He will stay a year or 2.He loves the spot light as soon the season starts he is going to miss being on TV with the spot like in ESPN.
B.P has always loved the spot light but he will build a strong tough team the key is for ireland and sparano to continue when he moves on.

What ever possessed you to think this is a one year deal rebuilding the Dolphins? It took Wannstadt and Spielman years to destroy this team. Look how long it took Chicago to get back to playoff team.

If you really think this team will be better than 4-12 or 5-11, I'd like some of what you're smoking. This team was absolutely thrashed over the last 6-7 years. The Fish have NO players from the 2002 - 2005 drafts. That's the players that should be the bulk of the team. Between the bad drafts and stupid personnel moves, the 1-15 season wasn't much of a shock last year.

Here's how I think it'll play out myself.

2008 - 4-12, 5-11, 6-10 would be a tremendous improvement over 2007 1-15 team.
2009 - 8-8, 9-7 maybe even playing for a wildcard slot late in the year.
2010 - 10-6, 11-5 or better, now the fish are finally serious playoff contenders.
2011 - 11-5 or better, a serious threat to go to to SB.

Bro, I understand where you are coming from. We have been bruised & battered for over 10 years now, by people that couldn't live up to the legend that is Don Shula. Some have tried, and all have failed.

I actually believe this is Bill Parcells last stop. He has a home, and has had that home in Boca Raton for about 20 years. I think he plans to stay close to it.

I am of the thought that Parcells gives up his position after 3-4 years, and retires for good. Jeff Ireland assumes his titles and duties, and keeps the GM duties or maybe passes this on to someone else. Make no mistake, Jeff Ireland is his protogé.

I believe finally, Huizenga will stay on long enough for us to become a winner, and if we are close to a SB say in 3 more years, he will stay managing partner until we win/lose a SB.

Anyone else get the feeling my scenario will play out ?

I agree with you,I don't think that BP has any

I agree with you,I don't think that BP has any intention of staying longer than three or perhaps four years. He was brought in to rebuild the team and that is what he is going to do(and judging from what he did this weekend in the draft he is making wise choices already)
I really believe this could be the beginning of a new era for Dolphins football.Parcells like big, strong players who can do it all......and his picks in the draft are an excellent start.I think we are seeing a new start that the Dolphins have desperately needed since Dan retired....I really believe 1-15 seasons are going to be a thing of the past and we will have BP to thank for it....but it isn't going to be easy by any means. There is a tough road ahead for this team but the end reward just could be a Super Bowl...and I am perfectly willing to wait a few years for that.
I have no issues with BP staying three or four years and retiring, the guy has more than earned it.After his stint here we might have that Lombardi trophy back again...and that makes me very happy.

I think we should do significantly better this year. We have upgraded our players and most importantly our coaches

I'd suggest you try getting some enjoyment by appreciating the good plays we get. It's hard to be excited with a losing season like last year, but i found quite a bit of enjoyment by watching a good pass, tackle, block, reception or run.
