When training camp begins we can't have any more then 80 players on the roster. How many players do we have to cut to get to the 80 player limit? All of the players who played in NFL Europe have a roster exemption so they don't count against the 80 player limit.

We are presently at the 80 man limit plus the six draft picks plus eight NFLE exemptions (Berlin QB, Broussard WR, Akah OG, Thompson OT, Sinclair LB, Shabazz S, Thomas CB, & Kimrin PK). Every time we sign a draft pick we will have to kick someone other than an NFLE exempt player to the street.

the GOOD news is that the talent we HAVE to dump is better than some we kept in the past. I think the bottom is rising quite nicely.

That is gonna suck. Some good guys out there in camp gotta hit the street.
We may as well get used t it. 94-53=41 will hit the street before we add the practice squad back. Now that is quite a few to be looking jobs, and a lot of tough decisions to make. From the O line, which seems to be getting solved quickly, to dline to the secondary. What will really help is players that can play multiple places on the roster Those players will allow us to keep players where we need more depth. Joe Toledo may make the roster because he was a TE who has played guard and tackle. He could displace a guy who was just a guard with ability. He could be a goal line offense guy who lines up as pass eligible . Flexibilty matters.
A lot of decisions will have to made soon.
Good thing we don't have a coach limit. We have like 24 coaches or so on the roster:)

Every time we sign a player another must be cut.

Cut Dates
Aug 29th- Cut down to 65 players
Sep 2nd - Cut down to 53 players

We are allowed 80 players signed plus any exemptions such as NFLE. So if you are at 80 and we are, it becomes sign one, cut one.

I think it likely that when camp starts we might see Orrin Thompson and Eric Kimble be put on PUP. Thompson, an OT, was injured in NFLE camp so doing that with him won't save us a roster spot but Kimble, a WR, who reports have it injured an achilles in rookie mini-camp, would. Another possibility for a reserve list or even an outright release would be Eddie Moore if he is still unable to go. Thus the first few cuts might be eased by injuries.

I wonder if Brock Berlin will be packing his bags, we surely wouldn't carry 5 QBs. I figure 3 on the regular roster and maybe one on the PS.

Since he has an NFLE exemption until the last cut he can "unpack" until then at least.

I think Berlin will be gone.If hes real lucky he might get the PS spot.

As long as the players replacing them are better, then it only works to improve the team. Also, it's not like the Dolphins are the only ones affected by the roster limit or will have to be making tough decisions.

I don't disagree with you that Berlin is a long shot at best to make even the practice squad, but get used to seeing him because with an NFLE exemption he will be around all of camp.
