2... maybe 3...

He is struggling with seperating from linemen... He has an awesome future with worlds of potential, but I see this year haveing a large learning curve for Roth. He needs to work on his technique and needs to learn different moves. JT should be a great mentor for him, but until Roth starts spinning off linemen and using other pass rushing techniques to get by linemen, his sack numbers are gunna be low. Expect big things out of him next year and be patient with him this season...

Nasty

Cmon socal those are the sacks hell get in a single game when we take on the jills.:D

a full time starter DE with 10 sacks a season is a good DE. a solid starter. anyone with less than 10 sacks in a season is a below average DE, or he is sharring playing time with another DE on a regular basis (not just regular rotation between players).

if Matt Roth has 10 or more sacks while splitting playing time with another DE, he would have to be a BEAST. and rookies are rarely "beasts".

5 or 6 sacks would be a good number for him. thats a solid number, and will get him to be the full time starter next season.

also, if some of the crazy people here are correct, and the fins go base 3-4 defense, (i really dont think they will, you crazy people :goof: ), than his numbers will be really low.

Down goes losman...for the 4th time :tongue:

Really? So where did you pull this determination from? Let me guess, your own opinion because that's all it is really accurate of.

Last year there were only 17 players in the entire NFL that were above 10 sacks. Only 13 of those were DE's. That leaves a crapload of subpar players in the league.

first off, every time someone says "this player is averarge, good, great, or sucks ***"... thats their opinion. hell, 90% of the stuff on this board is opinion.

if you ask yourself, "is this guy a good DE", (and we are talkin in terms of presure on the QB as shown by sack numbers), if a guy has not gotten atleast 10 sacks in a season, hes not a good DE. and since he has less than 10, i say hes average, below average, or nothing special.

so to me, as far as pass rush, only 13 DEs last season had good "pass rushing seasons".
now if a DE has 13 one year, and 9 the next, he still had that 1 year above 10 sacks. that makes him a good DE.

7.5, just a guess, I think he will have lots pass rushing opportunities.

Will your starting DEs combined get double digits?:rofl3:

I'll say 2-3 sacks in 2005. :o

1. He's a rookie
2. Reports outta camp say he's struggling a little
3. He's only playing part-time this year

2006 = 6-7 sacks :)
2007 = 11-12 sacks :D
(assuming he's not the DE in a 3-4, full-time, Defense which would lower his #s)

4 is realistic.
Any more would require Roth to start a good amount of time, which isn't likely this year.
