Do you think that the addition of Taylor and Wake will add to the overall sack total over last season, or will Joey Porter's sack producition come down enough to make it about even or worse?

On paper, it looks like we have improved our sack potential, but given the age of Taylor and Porter, and Wake's being green in the NFL, we might not see the production we saw last year.

Your thoughts?

Also, check out this piece I wrote on Cameron Wake and Taylor if you are interested: http://finsftw.blogspot.com/2009/07/awakening-beast-jason-taylor-sees_18.html

I think Taylor will cancel out any decline in Porter's performance. I think the Dolphins can combine for more sacks in '09 than '08, but the production is going to have to come more from the D-line; primarily Langford, Merling and Starks. I think those three and an improved Matt Roth in year 2 of playing SOLB will up our sack total. I'm not expecting much from Cameron Wake (it wouldn't surprise me if he was inactive for the first few games) so anything he does is bonus.

Good idea for a thread starter.

I think even if Porter gets maybe only 12 sacks (which he is almost certain to go down in production from 17.5 sacks) we'll still be much better. The 2nd most last years was Roth with 5, and I see Roth getting more than that, along with all the other OLB's adding on small amounts of 2-3.

If there is one thing about our schedule the O lines we face are not the best in the biz we should get our fare share.

WOW............With a better secondary and better depth at OLB, all we need to do now is to stop the run consistently and we will be putting our foes in predictable passing situations quite often, (great for corner blitzes and ILB's). Add an Offense that is arguably much better early on, with Chad having a full camp, and some exciting new receiving talent, I see our scoring being our biggest improvement this year; and so, you end up with even more sack opportunities as teams try to play catch-up with the 09 Dolphins POP. (Pursuit Of Perfection)

My Guess= 61 (Record is 72; '84 Bears)
Once teams start to fear us ....It's all over!!!!!!!!!!!
