Are we talking prime Dan Marino? The Dolphins never really had a defense that could match up with the best from the NFC, but Williams was a special back who obviously could have made a difference.
Unfortunately I still don’t think the addition of Williams with Marino would have gotten them a SB win. The offense was not the problem with the Dolphins during Marino’s prime years. It was the defense that prevented them from getting to the SB after the 1984 season and Ricky didn’t play defense.
A bunch... Your talking about pre rule change, running game mattered alot more back then... But you also have to ask your self, would've Marino run the ball more? Or would he have audibled to pass at the same frequency because YOLO...?

Agree. That Killer B defense was great for a few years, but faded pretty quickly.

My original thought was the same as 1972forever, not enough defense, but Davis sure made a difference for John Elway.
Great question. Again, are you adding him to Marino 1986-1992, or Marino 1994-1999.

It's a great question; the defenses were better from 90-99, but 86-89 the scoring was much higher. Shula tried to give Marino help around 1990, just wasn't enough.
