How much do NFL referees get paid?

I have alway been curious about this. What qualifications does it take to be a referee?
 
they don't make that much, I had a friend who looked into it not too long ago. He makes more money as a teacher

Base game fee is $1600 + ($100 x years of service))
This is for pre-season and regular season. Each official
gets 20 games (4 pre + 16 regular).
A playoff assignment was worth $11,000 last year (does not
depend on round or years of service). The superbowl was
worth $25,000. An official will work a maximum of 1 playoff
game and the Superbowl officials will have worked 1 playoff
game (usually wild card round).

7 officials who were on the bubble that did not get a
post season assignment get the Pro Bowl which was worth
4 days in Hawaii and a $3000 game fee (It's actually a
disapointment to get the Pro Bowl)

In retirement (with the current contract), an official can
expect to get $150 x years of service per month.

The NFL officials contract is up at the end of this
season ... let's see what happens to the stats above. Word
is that they are looking to settle for no less that twice
their current compensation.

The National Football League (NFL) pays referees anywhere from $25,000 to $70,000 per season. When you consider that the league plays 16 games and referees are considered part-time employees, you get a better sense of the disparity. But do not feel so bad for them, not only are there only 16 games in the schedule, they also get one-week intervals.

And where are the women in all of this? Referees in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) earn about $500 per game for a 32-game season, or a maximum of $16,000 annually."

I'll take screaming players over screaming kids any day of the week. Also look at it like this: The NFL season is pretty short, so if it's a difference of a $1,000 or 2 a year it's DEF. worth all that time off. 20 week work year :drool:

it's not that much but still good money vs number of hours put in
